About Angel MESSI
To a man whose memories are forever engraved in our hearts –Sir Oyetunji, Amos Oyeleru.
THE FESTIVAL OF THE GODS
There lived three rabbits; Rabsy, Ratsy and Rupert, in the forest of Alkmaar. The Rupperts were famous in Alkmaar, the eldest being Rabsy and the youngest, Rupert. They were lively rabbits that brought fun and life to the forest. Whenever they went on their usual voyage into the city, the forest was always dull and boring; it was a well-known fact that 'The three Rabbits' carried excitement with them, wherever they went, hence, the Rabbits themselves decided to make a living out of entertainment. Rabsy was experienced and witty; Ratsy was strong and brave, while Rupert, well Rupert was a con rabbit, very shrewd.
They formed a group that would entertain other animals in the forest, but on the eve of their first performance - The Festival of the Gods - they would encounter a problem.
So what name shall we be called when we are about to get on stage?
Ratsy asked, that night as they all sat at the foot of a mango tree and warmed themselves with the night fire.
I say we bear our names
Rabsy suggested
They already know us by that.
Nah!
Ratsy cut in
We need something spectacular. This could be the break we so crave.
He said enthusiastically.
Hmm... I see nothing bad in our names
Rabsy returned. Rupert, what say you?
He asked turning to the youngest of the clan, but Rupert was far away from Alkmaar. He always had this reverie about England. That one day he would go to the altar with the queen's daughter; even though he was a rabbit and she was human.
It's unfair!
Rupert slammed a stone into the fire which caused a little stir amongst his brothers and the fire too.
Hey dude? Are you alright?
Rabsy said with considerable amount of concern in his voice.
Yea I am fine.
Rupert replied
Sorry
He got up, flexed his tiny muscles and left for bed.
See you on the morrow guys, I’m off to bed.
What's up with him?
Ratsy asked, puzzled.
We should be finalizing details tonight! Dotting our I's and crossing our T's! What's this ... madness?
He screamed furiously.
Rabsy was twice as mad as Ratsy, but what could they do? Nothing. The event was scheduled to hold at 1700 Animal Meridian Time, so they decided they'd get it done in the morning. Ratsy finished up the tea in his hand and turned in for the night, only Rabsy the eldest was left. He stared into the fire, in deep thoughts for a while, just then, a brilliant idea burned him like fire.
Today's gone
He said to the fire as though it were alive
Let's see what tomorrow brings.
He peered into the woods for a moment, it appeared he saw two moon-like eyes, but it was nothing. Perhaps just his hallucinations he thought. The whisky in his cup had started to show him stuffs.
Mama calls.
He said in a whisper and downed the cup in one gulp
***************
Sonorous tweets and chirps echoed from every part of Alkmaar, an indication of the importance of the festival that was to be held later that evening. The atmosphere was electric, all the
