Poems Of A Musical Flavour: Volume 4

About this ebook
In 1993 I was 19 years old and still living in South Australia, but then, what else was I going to be doing? 1993 is split into two parts as, well, I beat my previous year’s record and wrote 201 songs, so cutting it into two parts makes for easier reading.
The book also contains some witty one liners and anecdotes about what was happening, who I wanted to be, or who I had a crush on.
They are not perfect, nor meant to be, they’re just the musings of a young teenage girl with crushes and dreams. Here’s 1993 part 1.
Enjoy!

Poems Of A Musical Flavour - Tiara King
INTRODUCTION
This book is a culmination of my love of music.
I was 19 years old and still living in Adelaide, South Australia, but then, what else was I going to be doing? 1993 is split into two parts as, well, I beat my previous year’s record and wrote 200 songs, so cutting it into two parts makes for easier reading. Not much had changed in four years, things were still the same on the home front. I just didn’t realise how much the same they’d stay over the course of my life. But no need to get into that; here’s 1993 part 1.
I’ve written a line or two about the artist or song that inspired me with the lyrics and why, on many of the songs, most of which are pop songs unless otherwise stated, and let’s hope I won’t get sued for using someone as inspiration (so many lawsuits going on these days). But jokes aside, I was young and a teenager and these songs are what I came up with. And now I’m publishing them just for the fun of it, and to have more books under my name on my author page.
Whether or not you enjoy them is up to you, but remember, if you plagiarise me, you’re being sued...and no, I’m not joking…
Thank you to all the muses, guides, helpers, inspirational musicians and singers that gave me the lines, the titles, the ideas for these songs. I honour you and dedicate these books to all of you.
1993 PART 1
ALWAYS ballad
I wrote this song on Valentine’s Day 1993. It was the first song of the year.
V1
I know something,
No matter what you say,
Or what you do,
I’ll Always love you.
V2
But I don’t remember you,
Or any of our past,
It’s not real to me,
You’re not real to me.
V3
But I am real,
And I’m right here,
To love you,
And guide you.
CHORUS
I will Always…be here…for you,
When you’re in, need of,
A little love and trust,
Which everyone wants so much,
Believe in Always.
V4
Everyone has to believe,
At some time, in their lives,
For there, always comes a time,
When you will find a prize.
V5
But how long will it take?
Does it take forever?
How much time,
Too much time.
V6
All the time,
It has to take,
To bring us together,
Back together.
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Always,
Is it a lifetime commitment?
Something,
We hold on to believe in,
Do you believe in,
Always and forever,
One thing,
I hold onto to keep us together.
FRESH
Inspired by Melissa’s song, Fresh.
CHORUS1
Look who’s getting Fresh,
Can’t go nowhere without you on my mind,
Look who’s getting Fresh,
Can’t say nothing, without you in my thoughts,
(oh baby)
V1
Fresh, can’t control yourself now boy,
Using all the girls like they’re toys,
Fresh…Fresh, Fresh, Fresh.
V2
Fresh, gotta give a come on,
Gotta get it done,
Fresh…Fresh, Fresh, Fresh.
CHORUS1
V3
Fresh, you say your heart’s always fallin’ in love,
But your body will never get enough,
Fresh…Fresh, Fresh, Fresh.
V4
Fresh, gotta give a French kiss,
Gotta getta quick fixx,
Fresh…Fresh, Fresh, Fresh woohh.
CHORUS2
Look who’s getting Fresh,
Can’t keep his hands to himself by his side,
Look who’s getting Fresh,
Can’t keep his lips, off of mine.
BRIDGE
Fresh boys know,
There’s only one way to go,
But if they ever succeed,
I’ll be very surprised indeed,
But is it just a masquerade?
Laced with coke and lemonade,
Coz Fresh boys should know,
You can’t get Fresh girls to go.
BOTH CHORUSES
BREAK1
Fresh…how many boys here are?
Fresh…Fresh, Fresh, Fresh aaahhhh.
BOTH CHORUSES
BREAK2
Fresh…how many girls wanna Fresh, Fresh boy?
Fresh, Fresh, Fresh woohhh.
DON’T KEEP ME IN THE DARK
Going old school with inspiration from A-ha’s Hunting High And Low and Arcadia’s So Red The Rose. Arcadia was three members of Duran Duran at one stage.
CHORUS
Don’t Keep Me In The Dark,
Save that, for another day,
Something’s missing in my heart,
Something, that won’t go away,
There’s a flame, promising goodbye forever,
Lady Ice, freezing in the dark.
V1
Lady Ice,
Coming to freeze your emotions,
It can’t be nice,
Climbing such high mountains.
V2
Was it the rose?
I sent to you on last Monday,
Lady Ice froze,
Your emotions away.
CHORUS
V3
Come on flame,
I need you on my side,
Melt away,
The problems that arise.
V4
Tell me now boy,
Something’s gotta be goin’ on,
There’s no way,
I’m gonna be left in the dark again.
CHORUS
BRIDGE
Hunting high and low,
For the reason,
Tell me now,
Before the season changes,
Did I put a range?
On my love for you boy,
Is that why you can’t tell me,
So you keep me in the dark.
BEST FRIEND’S BOYFRIEND
CHORUS1
He’s my Best Friend’s Boyfriend,
Don’t like deceiving, my friend for life,
He’s her boyfriend, but do I really care?
Yes I think I do.
V1
Met a guy, not so long ago,
In a club I was going to,
He was standing there,
Was he waiting for me?
V2
Coz this guy, was an instant attraction,
We hit it off right away,
And I knew things were,
Going so well we danced…
V3
The whole night, in each other’s arms,
He was simply a dream,
And he smiled down at me,
It was going right.
CHORUS2
Should I tell her the truth?
Yes I think I have to,
What’s gonna happen,
Coz I like him too.
V4
Night over,
Went back to my best friend’s place,
Told her about you,
She showed me a picture of her true love,
And then I realised about my guy.
BOTH CHORUSES
BRIDGE
Best friend,
Best Friend’s Boyfriend,
What am I gonna do?
He’s her boyfriend,
I won’t cheat on me.
ILLUSIONS
Going back to 1986 with this Jem and The Holograms Love Is Doin’ It, inspired song.
V1
Do you see something,
Not there before,
Sure you’re not seeing things,
Do you hear noises,
Go bump in the night,
Sure you’re not hearing things.
V2
Could be simple tricks,
Played on you,
But it could be your mind,
Fooling with you.
CHORUS1
Illusions,
Mind bending, thought twisting,
Illusions,
Like a rainbow there to be caught,
A unicorn ready to ride.
V3
Is it there to be touched, and felt?
Real life, is it there to be heard,
And seen, all right.
V4
But am I just
