Day by Day - Lindsay Hassall

I was asked to speak at a church on ‘Does Jesus heal today?’ After that meeting I wrote this book and photocopied it to help people who attended to spend some time each day reading about how Jesus healed and to think and pray about how that still applies to all of us today. Now, thanks to Gilead Books, it is being made available to all who are believing for healing.

King David in Psalm 119:130 talks about how God’s Word enters our hearts and minds to bring us light and revelation.

As you read a section of this book each day allow God’s Word to give you revelation and insight into what Jesus still does for us. As you reflect upon the verses and comments, may you find your faith and confidence in Jesus as your healer being increased and strengthened .

    Day 1

    Matthew 8:1-3

1 When he came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.

2 And behold, a leper came to him and knelt before him, saying, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.

3 And Jesus stretched out his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed.

Very often Christians are confused as to whether it is God’s will for them to be healed. There is an incident in the life of Jesus that shows healing is God’s will.

The leper said in verse 2, Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.

Other versions of the bible say:

Lord, you have the power to make me well, if only you wanted to. (CEV)

Lord, if You are willing, You can make me clean. (NIV)

The leper wanted to be healed.

But the leper didn’t know if Jesus wanted to heal him. But the leper didn’t know if it was Jesus’ will to heal him.

Jesus made it very clear what his will was with regard to healing. In verse 3 Jesus said, I will.

Other versions of the bible say:

I want to! Now you are well. (CEV)

I am willing; be cleansed. (MKJV)

I do want to, he answered. Be clean! (GNT)

The Apostle Paul writes to Timothy:

This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Saviour, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. (1 Timothy 2:3,4, CEV)

God’s will is to save all people. God’s will is to heal all people.

When we pray the Lord’s Prayer this is what we are praying for.

    Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come; thy will be done,

in earth as it is in heaven.

So we pray for the lost knowing it is God’s will for them to be saved. So we pray for the sick knowing it is God’s will for them to be healed. And the spiritual battle in which we are engaged in is fighting the good fight of faith to see God’s will be done on this earth and to see his Kingdom established here in all its fullness.

Jesus wants us, his people, his church, to be healed.

    Day 2

    Matthew 4:23-25

23 And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction among the people.

24 So his fame spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him all the sick, those afflicted with various diseases and pains, those oppressed by demons, epileptics, and paralytics,
