About this ebook
Author's Note: This short story takes place during Prime Imperative, Book 3, of the Prime Chronicles Series.
Warriors from the planet Prime are renowned throughout the galaxy for their strength and fighting ability. And when they meet their mate, they bond for life.
Like all Prime males, Lieutenant Zaek Magga had searched forever for his mate…but he never expected her to be a Terran. Unfortunately, no Terran would be prepared for the reality of the carnal bonding process between a Prime male and his chosen mate. He decides to move very slowly.
Cheri Stafford never expected to be a Prime warrior’s mate. But she is. At first, she’s thrilled, then…confused. After seeing how other Prime males act with their mates, Cheri doesn’t understand why Zaek is holding her at arm’s length. Doesn’t he want her? He hasn’t even kissed her properly.
But when Cheri uses all her womanly wiles to get Zaek to move, she discovers how thoroughly an extremely dominant male warrior will claim his female.
“This is a well-rounded and thought out series that I really want more of. I hope there are many more books in this world, I know I would love to read them all.” – Tina, Goodreads

Monette Michaels
A Hoosier born and raised, Monette still lives in the heartland near Indianapolis, Indiana. Married to her college sweetheart and soul mate, she has one son. After many years of practicing law, Monette found that all the clients, opposing counsel, and the problems she handled ignited the need to write fiction. So she started writing – first, romantic suspense/thrillers featuring alpha-male heroes and kick-ass heroines, then adding a touch of paranormal and sci-fi -- and, eventually, a sexier side (as Rae Morgan,) writing paranormal romance and urban fantasy. Monette Michaels is the author of the top-selling Security Specialists International series featuring former military heroes operating a private security firm. Eye of the Storm (Book 1) was an EPPIE finalist. Her Prime Chronicles series is science fiction romance set in the far reaches of the Milky Way galaxy and book one in that series, Prime Obsession, was also an EPPIE finalist. Fans of Monette Michaels describe her writing as "full of romance, alpha males, strong female roles, sci-fi and steam," with "witty dialogue" and "MUST READ" books. Her "characters are believable" and her books are "yearly reads" that they "come back to again and again." Monette (and Rae) loves to hear from her fans. E-mail her at monettemichaels@gmail.com. Acknowledgments
I want to thank the fans of my Prime Chronicles books for wanting more. Zaek and Cheri’s story might never have existed without the outpouring of love for this series. There will be more Prime books because of all of you.
Thanks to my beta-readers Erin, Valy, and Janet for their encouragement after reading a rough first draft.
Thanks to Cherise Sinclair and Ezra Solomon for critiquing and editing to make this story better.
And, finally, thanks to April Martinez for another wonderful cover and to Gail Northman for taking on a quick-turn-around formatting job during the holiday season.
Letter to the Reader
This short story—or, as I think of it, a really long scene—takes place time-wise during the third book, Prime Imperative, between Chapters 14 and 15.
The story focuses on what happened between research assistant Cheri Stafford and Lt. Zaek Magga when they mate-bonded, but wasn’t shown in the third book. After all, the third book was Iolyn and Bria’s story.
For those of you, who are new to the Prime world, I strove to give you enough background so you can enjoy Cheri and Zaek’s final mating dance. – Monette Michaels, December, 2014.
