"Doormat" -- A story of a man's struggle with himself. Jameson is a office worker who has been letting himself get stepped all-over by everyone around him.
"Damian's Stand" -- Damian, a teenager, finds his little brother with bruises all over his body. He confronts his adoptive father, knowing it was him who created those bruises, with a gun.
"Inauguration Day" -- Kendrick is a secret service member watching the inauguration while on his vacation. But when a friend turns out to be an assassin, Kendrick must make a choice that either way will change the USA forever.
"The Train Home" -- Cpl. Lewinsky is returning home after the war in the Pacific. On the train home he struggles with the nightmares he's been having of past events, and reminisces on the lifelong friends he made.

The pitch-black night air passed through Jameson like a baneful ghost, as he the offices sliding door opened. He rubbed his grayed, callused hands. Jameson stepped out into the starless night, lighten up only by a dim street light. As he pulled his beany over his bald head, a hand patted him on the back. The man smiled, and Jameson waved back. His other colleagues wished him a good night and Jameson did the same, the air in his lungs pluming into fog as it escaped his chapped lips. As he walked to his car, Dana walked past, shivering in the winter breeze. Jameson jogged up next to her, taking off his overcoat, and wrapped it around Dana. Dana blushed and kissed Jameson on the cheek. Waving at Dana as she got in her car, Jameson touched his cheek and smiled.
Jameson, Jameson, wait up,
Mr. Schmitt, Jameson’s boss, said.
Yes, Mr. Schmitt?
Jameson asked. Rubbing the sides of his arms.
Just got off the phone with Henry from accounting. He says that he won’t be able to come in Saturday to work on the numbers he missed today,
Mr. Schmitt said. I need you to come in Saturday to resubmit his numbers.
