What would happen to you and your family if suddenly one day you woke up and realized the electric grid had been knocked out in the night?
A significant blow to the power grid that knocked it out for an indeterminable amount of time would have most Americans out of food in 48 hours.
What would happen to you and your family if this
situation lasted indefinitely?
Most of us don't want to think about that.
The reality of the world we live in is that there's always a potential threat. There are wars, rumors of war, earthquakes, storms, and always the subsequent chaos following any and all of these situations.
Contrary to popular believe, you cannot rely on the programs and organizations put into place to handle disaster. You need to do a minimal amount of preparation for yourself and and your family to ensure your survival.
Preppers are those who are preparing now for these situations so they can keep their families safe and can survive these difficult times.
If you have concerns as to how you and your family would be able to survive in situations such as natural disasters, terrorist attacks, or even economic collapse, then DON'T WAIT!

to handle and survive in these emergency situations.
Maybe you already looked into prepping and decided that it would cost a fortune. Maybe you thought, "We can wait; nothign every happnes to use anyway".

Everyone should have a plan and stockpile in place, just in case the SHTF.
You don't have to be in a rush. Slow and steady wins the race. Add things you need slowly as your can afford them.
There are many ways of getting what you need at a decent pace and
without spending a whole lot of money at once.
The problem for many people is that they either don't know where to start or they end up with a bunch of superfluous items they don't really need.
There are many prepping companies starting up today and they certainly aren't cheap. Buying "professional prepping" supplies is
costly and not always the best.
This book intends to give you an introduction not only to prepping but how to get your stash started without having $2000 to put in right away.
By following everything in the book, you can be sure to have most of what you will need to survive any short term crisis or long-term survival bug-out situation.

Introduction – What is Prepping?
The practice of prepping is so much more than just hoarding food. There are several different kinds of preppers, from those who simply store enough food and water to live out a few days power outage to those who have complete nuclear proof shelters with years of supplies. Each family has their own level of what they consider to be prepared
but the motto is still the same, start now or risk the consequences later when disaster strikes. Prepping is also very similar to being self-reliant as many families have the facilities to live off grid
or without any input from society. The one thing that all these families do share is a common mentality that they are ready for anything whether it's a simple power cut or a full on civil war. Unlike what you may already believe preppers don't just make plans for one situation, they prepare for all eventualities.
APN author Phil Burns calls preppers independent citizens capable of supporting themselves
, but in many cases this isolationism isn't ideal. Successful preppers are those who have built a community around themselves to trade skills and items so that they can work beyond what their own family can provide. Almost from birth we are taught that if something happens the powers that be will take care of us, but chances are they will either be the problem or too busy trying to help themselves. Help could take days, weeks or even months to appear and in the meantime you might starve, dehydrate, or die fighting off looters and others in the same desperate situation. Prepping means that you will be capable of supporting yourself until help arrives, and in some cases indefinitely if you want to become wholly self-reliant.
If you're not sure about whether or not you should prep consider the last time you experienced severe weather – in winter you could get snowed in, or a heat wave without power. With no power food can't stay refrigerated and the stove won't work, tap water won't be safe to drink unless boiled since the treatment plants will also be out. The stores are closed since they have no power, and within hours the stores would have sold out of water, bread, and many items anyway (seriously
