CADE
Derek Langston. His name alone sends a chill down my spine. Not only because of the sheer power he holds, but because he is walking, talking, raw sex appeal. From his custom-tailored suits to his perfectly styled, jet black hair, to his chiseled jaw, he is a fantasy brought to life. And here I am meeting with him on my very first day of work.
When I look back on the various careers I thought about doing when I grew up, pharmaceutical sales rep never made the list. But after jumping from job to job as a teenager, in an effort to find what I was good at, I decided to go to school. Then I landed here at Langston Pharmaceuticals.
Casually, I wipe my sweaty palms on the navy-blue skirt I decided to wear today. Navy is a power color, right? I figured it would make a good impression. The last thing I need is for Mr. Sex on a Stick himself to shake my hand and be grossed out by the amount of perspiration on it. If that doesn’t get him hard, I don’t know what will.
Cadence Renshaw?
I look up and see a petite brunette standing before me in a sleek black pantsuit.
Yes, that's me,
I reply.
Her smile is warm, genuine. Mr. Langston will see you now.
I gather the leather case beside me that houses my resume, as well as five reference letters, and stand on shaky legs. Yes, I have the job already, but it’s good to bring all I have with me to my meeting with the CEO. This is the first meeting I’ve been on in a long time where I’ve been nervous. I don’t think it’s necessarily the job that has me this way. No, it’s Mr. Langston himself.
My free hand smooths down my matching suit jacket before I raise my eyes to his assistant. She stands a good six inches shorter than me. Her hair is cropped into a bob and damn she is pretty. I’m sure she’s powerful here, too. I guess you would have to be to do all of the administrative work for the chief executive officer of a major company.
If you'll follow me,
she says and leads me to a set of mahogany doors. With hands on each brushed nickel handle, she pulls the heavy wooden doors open, revealing an office fitting of a man of his title.
A large, L-shaped desk sits in the center of the room with Sex on a Stick himself sitting behind it. His head is down, probably focusing on things far more important than meeting the new sales rep. I still can’t believe he meets with each rep when they come on board. He must have other more important meetings to attend, quarterly statements to go over, or something. Yet, here I am, and here he is.
I take the opportunity to scan the rest of the room. A tall bookshelf is on one wall, while on the other side of the room is a round table with four comfortable looking chairs sitting around it. But it's not only the furniture and sheer size of the space which makes this office befitting of him; it’s also the view.
New Jersey is widely known as a home to many big pharmaceutical companies. Langston certainly holds their own amongst the big dogs and I'm sure Derek’s father strategically placed the company with its competitors for a reason. Maybe to show he wasn't intimidated by their success or as a challenge to those around them to get their game face on; there's a new player in town.
The four-story building is located on seventy-five acres of land. Tall trees surround it, encapsulating it in a way which makes you feel as if you're not really in this mecca of brilliant minds researching and marketing its next blockbuster drug. You feel like you're at one with nature. Looking out, I not only see the trees, but birds flying about, flitting from branch to branch until finding a place to stop. I bet if I moved closer I could see animals walking around on the ground below. Up here, Derek really is king of his castle.
Ms. Renshaw for you, sir,
his assistant says. For him? I’ll happily be here for him: on my knees, on my back with my legs spread, pressed up against a wall so he can thoroughly fuck me. Although, I know that’s not what she meant. My mind, however, goes right to sex.
My eyes focus on him and take in his every movement as he stands from his leather chair and walks around his
