I am so pleased to be working again with the amazing Decadent Publishing team – dreams really do come true! The chance to play in the amazing fantasy world of Madame Evangeline and her exclusive 1Night Stand series was just too good to resist. An office romance is a familiar trope, but one where the possibilities are endless. When people spend so much time in close quarters, it is no surprise when the lines between the professional and the personal sometimes blur.

Writing a contemporary romance was a new challenge, and surprisingly tough. Creating a realistic emotional connection between two wholly human characters, tempered by expected office protocols and facing real life challenges, certainly stretched my creative muscles. Paranormal Romance is definitely my comfort zone because you can get away with outrageous behavior when your characters might shift into wolves or jaguars at any moment! It was great to test myself with something different and I look forward to bringing you more stories in a range of different romance genres.

Chapter One

Daniel Smith scanned the report in front of him.

As usual, his executive assistant, Lou, had done an exceptional job, providing a concise summary of the key discussion points for his forthcoming conference call with Talisman Enterprises. Each paragraph linked to a fuller, one-page analysis, including pros and cons. She had also included the likely arguments Talisman would raise and suggested solutions to counter them.

Daniel pushed up his black-framed glasses to massage the bridge of his nose before settling them more comfortably. The next section in the report contained all the financial information he would need—projected costs for the development, income, and expenditure forecasts. Graphs and pie charts to meet his at-a-glance requirements.

His assistant was a goddamn miracle worker and one of the main reasons Daniel had become such a respected and highly-valued member of the senior leadership team at Wilson and McTeague. Lou should have moved on to a more senior position during the last couple of promotion rounds but showed no interest in personal advancement, and Daniel had said a thousand silent prayers of thanks while squashing guilty feelings. The situation would resolve itself soon enough, and Lou would be able to progress to a more suitable role.
