Mythical Minstrelsy Volume 1

About this ebook
Gather under the tree with the traveling bard while she recounts poetry and short stories centering around various mythical and magical creatures. Month by month her project grew as her supporters lent their ears. Here and there she shares some artwork, some snippets about her books, and even a little in the realms of meditation. This is the first year of her Patreon anthology, and month by month content gets released. This anthology is a handy gathering of the year's work, not including the progress made in the "Selkies' Skins: Temple and Skinquest" manuscript which will be provided her patrons separately.
Teresa Garcia
Teresa Garcia (once Teresa Huddleston-Garcia) is a 30-something mother of two children with special needs, raising them "alone" in the small mountain town of McCloud, CA. Just because she is on her own though, does not mean that she is "alone." Many thanks are due to the McCloud Community Resource Center, to her brother and his family, and her mother, for all their help. She loves to text role play, write stories, hike, paint, meditate, and play games or read with her kids. She also writes quests for, and helps to maintain, the online browser-based RPG Dragon Hearts. As Amehana, Teresa volunteers time for the Trotsdale Public Library in Second Life. She was raised in another mountain community, which she visits as often as she can spare time and gas, though not nearly often enough for her wishes. Her parents always encouraged her writing and artistic talents. In 2005, she decided to pick up the dream of writing and publishing a novel once more, having shelved that (and the "Shadow Chronicles" manuscript) in her early college years due to the time constraints of motherhood at the time. In 2006 she released to the public her first novel in the "Dragon Shaman" series, "Taming the Blowing Wind," and has since published a second book in the series and a poetry book. She likes to deal with multicultural themes because of her own background. Currently Teresa has several manuscripts to work on, such as her "Dragon Shaman" series of novels and her current favorite serialized story, "Selkies' Skins." She is also currently narrating "The Ian's Realm Saga" trilogy by DL Gardner, expected to be available April 2018. Teresa writes short stories for children in the Adventures of Lightning the Cat series. Her other titles are intended for more advanced readers. Her personal blog is located at http://rainstardragon.livejournal.com You can check out what she has available for her patrons at her Patreon: http://www.patreon.com/Amehana In addition to finding her in print on Lulu, she can be found at Amazon Author Central. http://www.amazon.com/-/e/B009Q938VE

Thank you for supporting and enjoying my works. This edition is intended for you only but please feel free to read it aloud with friends and family. Patrons have been given complimentary copies for all of their financial support through the year of the project. This is being distributed with the intent of sharing my shorter works with a wider audience. If you wish to share a copy of this with a friend then please consider returning to where you purchased this copy and gifting your friend their own. Exceptions can be made for reviews or quotations. I look forward to compiling next year’s anthology to join this one, and the forward journey with you.

About the Author
Forward
This Anthology covers July 2015 to July 2016, pulling together the poems that were funded by Patreon patrons as well as the bonus stories and artwork. Some are very different from my usual works, but all are united in drawing from magic, myth, and legend. A couple of the larger pieces are more properly occult writings and are included in the anthology due to being completed during the writing year and to help add depth and understanding to the other works in this collection as well as to my longer works in other books.
I only had three patrons for this period, but each of them are highly valued. As I sit here pulling together the works I reflect over the past year and how much (and how little) I was able to get done. Some of the stories that join the poems are incomplete and are included as record of what was finished through the year as various goals were set and funded or defunded. Those unfinished works I intend to have finished hopefully in this upcoming writing year. As such this takes a bit of a different turn from the things that normally get released through the publishing company I run.
The current manuscript for Selkies’ Skins 2 as it stands will also be going out separately to my patrons, with the caveat that it is only in the early part of section two, and that manuscript will not be finished until I’ve worked all the way through section three and gotten editing done. The progress that was made in this project is not included in this anthology.
There will also be some art images in this anthology in color. To fully enjoy them I suggest that you read the ebook version on a color capable device. The print edition is intended to be in color and this is why it will be more expensive than a black and white edition would be. For ease of finding one’s place I have organized this by month published on the feed, not necessarily by the month each piece was written in.
With luck the next writing year will be productive too. I am still in the apartment. The house that was secured for the use of the children and I is still having work done to it to make it safe and livable. It is, at least, a house. In part your contributions not only helped with equipment for my work, but also have been able to go into the support of the children and the repair of that house. I still need to get pictures posted. In the future there are plans to construct a separate working area for me there, but that is still in the future and so when I do move the family into the new house, once again my office is going to cohabit with my bed.
Thank you to each of my patrons, and also to the silent supporters that were not able to show any support monetarily, but put up with passionate explosions of exasperation over the constraints of time and life. Thank you also to my boss, who was not a patron, but still takes an interest in my writing endeavors and gives me some work hours when there is stuff to poke with sticks and try to break.

Unicorn
Soft steps in questing woods
The scent of loam abounds
A shimmer dances between trees
Bringing maidens to gentle knees
Eyes locked in communion
Soul to soul the call doth fly
A gust of wind between them wends
And slowly regal neck lightly bends
Maiden’s hand shaking extends
A touch of flesh to velvet nose
A silver horn lances through her night
Setting evil dreams to panicked flight
In the distance trumpets blare
He reels round and vanishes
A vision, an illusion, momentary confusion?
Whichever, he has cleared away delusion.
Run then along
