About this ebook
"""When the Wolf Howls to the Moon is a collection of prose and poetry written in the last two years. In its most honest sense, it is a craft born from the outbursts and outpour of emotions from a soul swirling about its own private mess at a time when the world is tormented with fear and uncertainties. Thus, it speaks of angst as it manifested

A month after giving birth, I suffered from writer’s block. Hence, the completion of this book was painfully challenged by my inability to gush out words, my deep frustration and the fear of not getting ahead. In my futile attempts to inspire creativity, the following lent a shoulder, an ear, and an ample dose of encouragement that saw me to the very last verse:
My loving husband, Jeffry, you have always been amazing. Thank you for believing in me even in those moments when I could not compose a simple sentence.
My beautiful sisters, Gel and Karine, you inspire me to become my best version. Thank you for the late-night talks, the pieces of advice about womanhood, motherhood and everything in between. I will certainly treasure your words of wisdom.
My mother, you have always been my most avid fan. If it weren’t for your incredible foresight and encouragement, I wouldn’t have attempted to write a book. All that I am is because of your graciousness as a parent and a confidant.
Above all, my most gracious and compassionate God, thank you for bestowing me the talent, the passion and the art. It is Your will for me to become a writer. Your divine providence will help me keep up the grit.
For everyone who believes
they are lone wolves.
"We are never alone
We are all wolves
Howling to the same moon."
―Atticus Poetry, Atticus
There are times, some totally heart wrenching times when we are trapped in our most brittle state that we can’t seem to reconcile ourselves to the fleeting identikit of what we ought to be. Fragile as a glass, we plunge into yet another wave of tiresome battle with our mind which, most often than not, leaves us drained and more confused of the things that perfectly represent our humanity: pain, love, loss, desolation, fear, among others. These cut on us like Damocles’ sword passing judgment—swift, keen and vindictive.
In these moments of vulnerabilities, what do we seek? A music to calm our nerves or a dose of caffeine that makes us drop to our knees and quietly beseech the gods to put an end to our suffering? In these moments of cataclysm, what do we seek? A bottle of liquor to numb the pain or an art that will represent where we’re coming from—a drawing, a painting, a book? Whoever we may be, sometimes we become the kind who are comforted by a word or a phrase that perfectly resonates our trepidations. Thus, the universe provided us with writers whose aspiration is to represent humanity’s most intricate experiences in their works.
Writing, they say, is not just a skill. It’s a task—a responsibility nature has assigned to humanity so stories can survive across generations. Hence, the one who moves the quill or the pen has a duty to immortalize moments, preserve the woes, the triumph, the desperation for posterity. It’s a magnanimous pursuit, to say the least. For the simple stroke of the pen represents millions of experiences in their austerity. The words make histories come alive in vivid colors. As long as the writers write their words, humanity will never be bereft of immortality. As long as the writers wholeheartedly consider astuteness in their crafts,
humanity
will
never
die.
We will begin with that moment when
I fell in love again with words—
words carefully pinned to create
art that will convey
emotions concealed
beneath sagging skin and brittle bones!
Throbbing, aching emotions
longing to be set free
but remained caged,
raging in isolation until a poet shattered,
bled at a corner, gripping a pen
and a thorn prescription
of medications
she never wished to undergo in a lifetime
She shed another
