We could have completed the game
of life
together- back then a two-player game.
Now the symphony of forever kisses that we so
intently exchanged
has dried on my cheek.
Words of love and comfort I once
fed you with
are now past expiry,
rotting and decaying in the hung winds
of yesterday.
The path has narrowed, now there’s space for only one,
perhaps you were the permanent
passenger
perhaps you will always be in my heart.
The trees now see futility in holding on
and let
