Author

Tracey H. Kitts

USA Today and New York Times Best Selling Author I write paranormal, sci-fi, and fantasy romance. I have wanted to be a writer for as long as I can remember. I write what I enjoy in the hopes that others will enjoy it as well. I've always been drawn to the macabre. Vampires, werewolves, you name it. I've never written about the paranormal because it's popular. I do it because that's what I'm interested in. If the vampire fad ever passes, I'll still be sitting here in my Dracula cape, getting my fang on.  I write erotic horror under the name T.K. Hardin.

    Chapter One

Completely uninvited and most unexpected came a tumble of very explicit thoughts. Kate suddenly felt ashamed of herself for having such thoughts at a funeral. Don’t be a slut, she told herself. But there it was, that tightening in the pit of her stomach when she looked at Gerry. The way her heart wouldn’t slow down no matter what she tried to think about. Waterfalls, soft music, candlelight, naked bodies glistening in the rain. What the hell?! Where did that come from? Kate’s mind then gave her a very vivid answer to her unspoken question, and she was reminded to be careful what she asked for, especially from herself.

All she could think about then was seeing Gerry the night before, naked in the rain. Not only was his nudity a shock to her senses after all these years, but she learned he was a werewolf. When a wolf stepped into the woods, and moments later he walked out naked, it was pretty damn obvious.

What should I wear? she asked.

Kate forced herself to take a step back or be damned on the spot for her thoughts, let alone her intentions toward someone else’s fiancé. She might still be in love with him, but she had yet to determine what Gerry’s relationship was like. She also had yet to even meet (or know) who he was engaged to. If he was happy, she had no right to fuck things up. She wouldn’t do that. Her heart gave another little flutter when she thought, Things can’t be that great if he asked me out.

When he smiled that sexy smile, it was difficult not to get her hopes up.

Just something casual, he said with a shrug.

Another of Gerry’s relatives from out of town walked up at that moment and rescued Kate from the look in his eyes. She turned around and nearly plowed into her aunt Pat.

Well, looks like you have plans this evening, she said, wiping tears and smiling at the same time.

I know. Kate sighed. I’m just afraid this wasn’t the place—

What better place than a funeral to realize life is short? her aunt interrupted. "Besides, his father always loved you. He also always hoped you’d come to your senses and come back home. I know this because he told everyone. I’m sure he wouldn’t object to you two getting back together at his funeral."

That was easy for her to say, she didn’t see the porno playing in Kate’s head just a minute before.

We’re not back together, she said.

    Chapter Two

All the way home, she continued to wonder what was wrong with her, and by the time seven o’clock rolled around, she still hadn’t figured it out. Pat had brightened considerably in the past few hours. She also told Kate, Honey, don’t worry. Things have a way of working themselves out.

That may be true, Kate answered. But he’s still engaged, and I’m still in love with him.

The admission seemed to shock them both.

Are you having sex with him? Pat asked bluntly.

    N-no, Kate stammered.

Then you aren’t breaking any commandments.

Nothing like living in the Bible belt, Kate drawled. You sure there’s not one in there about thou shalt not lust after another woman’s fiancé?

Pat’s smile was pure wickedness. So, it’s like that? she teased.

Pat, I’m so confused, Kate said, flopping onto one of the kitchen barstools.

    You’re overcomplicating things.

I think things are fairly complicated without my help.

You obviously still have feelings for each other. I didn’t need you to tell me that, but I am surprised you admitted it.

"But what about her, whoever she is? You know I don’t even know her name. Pat opened her mouth and Kate quickly said, I don’t want to know, it would only hurt worse. She paused. And then there’s Jake. He never asked for any of this."

Pat sighed heavily before admitting, I’ve been talking to Jacob. When Kate only arched her eyebrows in response she continued, I really think he’s going to be all right.

    I thought you liked Jake.

"I do. But I like seeing your smile even more, and it hasn’t reached
