Chapter 1

Dominic Montgomery parked his silver Porsche in the circular driveway and headed for the door of his mansion.  He'd never been so relieved to be back in Dallas.  It had been almost two weeks—two of the worst weeks of his life, as a matter of fact.

He'd already called ahead to release the staff for the day.  Dominic wanted to be alone, although Maria had insisted on leaving him dinner, which made him smile.  Maria Garcia had been a loyal employee of the Montgomery family for as long as he could remember, and he was lucky to have her.  She was more than just a cook.  Over the years, Maria had become like family.

He made a beeline for kitchen—but not for the food, for the beer. 

Like the beer is going to ease your pain.

Maybe not, he conceded out loud to his nagging inner voice.  But there's no harm in trying. 

Dominic grabbed an iced mug from the freezer and poured himself a crisp mug of Lonestar, his favorite beer. 

I could go for a Lone Star myself.

Dominic whipped around at the sound of the female voice. 

What the hell?!  Heidi!  What the fuck are you doing in my house?!

I have a key.  Remember? she said with a wink.  And if you must know, I came to kiss and make up. 

The bright red mini dress barely covered her crotch.  The neckline plunged to her waist, exposing her giant boobs.  It was classic Heidi, unfortunately.

You need to fuck me, Dominic.  Just one fuck and you'll be all better.  She wiggled her breasts free of the neckline and pushed them up towards his face.  How about a taste, Dominic?

You're kidding, right Heidi?

I never joke about our fucking, Dominic.  She took a step towards him.  Its been a few weeks.  You need me.  You need a real woman.  A woman who drives you wild.  She reached for his crotch.  Not some twit historian.

The mere mention of Sage set him ablaze.  How the hell would you know, Heidi?

Because no one fucks you like I do, Dominic.  She rubbed her hands across the skin-tight dress.  No one.  And your little historian knows it. 

What the hell are you talking about, Heidi?  Aside from your outbursts in the tabloids, how in the hell would Sage know anything about us?  Other than the fact that you’re a well-established slut, of course.

She slapped him across the face.  A slut!  A slut!  You've wanted nothing but me for over a year.  We're hardly a passing fancy, Dominic.  We're a couple, and everyone knows it.  Even your little island cunt!

Dominic took a deep breath.  There was no way in hell he would give her the satisfaction of losing his temper.  You and Sage aren’t even in the same league.

Heidi smiled.  Not even close, Dominic.  And she knows it.  I told her myself.

What do you mean you told her yourself?! he screamed.

Now don’t get yourself all angry, Dominic.  I felt it was better for all of us if I took a little trip down to her island.  I wanted to make certain that she understood our love.  Heidi laughed.  She saw it firsthand, Dominic.  I made certain of that.

What in the hell had he seen in Heidi for all these months?!  Had the constant fucking so blinded him that he couldn’t see her for what she really was?

The photos, Dominic.  The photos from South Beach.  You had your hands all over me, Dominic, she said, stroking his cheek.  Just like always, Dominic.  I told her how you fucked me in the limo right afterwards.  How you couldn’t get enough of me.

That's a lie and you know it!

Technically.  But she got it, Dominic.  She gets that you need certain pleasures that only I can deliver.

You—

Relax, she said before starting to stroke his crotch.  You'll get over this.  You never stay angry for long.  Not as long as I'm fucking you.

Dominic pushed her hand away.  Get out, Heidi.  And don't bother to come back!  I'm having every lock changed.

Heidi smiled.  Silly Dominic.  You'll be back in my bed soon enough. 

No sooner had she wiggled her ass out the door than he slammed it behind her.

Chapter 2

How are you doing, big bro?

Dominic stared at Hunter as best he could, trying to ignore the fact that Hunter had two fuzzy faces at the moment. 

Not good.  How many beers have I had? 

Hunter smiled.  Enough, apparently.  You're not driving tonight, so let loose, Dominic.  Hunter gazed around the bar.  Nothing better to forget Heidi than a one night stand.  There are some hot ones in here, Dom.

Hunter, do you ever stop thinking about getting laid?

During a game, he teased.

Well, now that's a new one.  So the big leagues are slowing you down?

Hardly, Dom, Hunter said before turning around and signing an autograph for a hot blonde. 

I love watching you play, Hunter, she giggled. 

You live here in Dallas?

I do, she said, batting her eyelashes.  So if you ever want to, well, you know ... She scribbled on a napkin and handed it to him.  Here's my number. 

As she turned to leave, she made eye contact with Dominic.

The scantily-dressed blonde fled back towards her friends.

Hunter eyed her up and down.  You see what I mean, Dom?  You don’t need to be lonely for long.

I can find plenty of chicks to prevent me from getting lonely, he admitted.  But they won't help me get over the anger.

You won’t stay angry at Heidi, Hunter insisted.

We're done, Hunter.  You know what that conniving little skank did?

Dominic told Hunter about his argument with Heidi and her trip to the islands to harass Sage.

Damn, Dom.  I had no idea.

When she went to the islands— Dominic couldn't even finish the sentence.  What Heidi had done to Sage was just too painful to say out loud.

So then get even with her, Dom.

She's not worth the energy, Hunter.

It's worth the energy if you can get Sage back, Hunter pointed out.

Dominic stared at his brother, and the fuzzy faces started to get clearer.  It took him a few moments to grasp what Hunter had just said.
