CHAPTER ONE
Donathan stood in a large stone room ornately decorated with intricately designed tapestries on the wall, large wooden shelves loaded with books, a couple of torches and some exquisitely carved windows. Looking around at his surroundings Donathan suddenly felt very out of place. In his mind, he was just a simple working class guy. Give him a recliner, a beer, a burger, a game to watch, and he was a happy man. However, whoever owned this place had a lot more taste and money than he had ever had.
This is my office.
A deep level voice stated from behind Donathan.
Turning around Donathan saw a man sitting behind a large extravagantly carved wooden desk reading a book and writing something on a piece of paper. I’m sorry.
Don’t be; you were just thinking how you felt out of place in my office. I did not decorate this room. Someone from the palace took care of that for me. I simply occupy the space.
Dumbfounded was not a feeling Donathan felt often, but standing there before this man he was pretty sure that was what he was feeling right now. How did this man know what he was thinking?
Because I have been living in your mind these past few months.
The man answered him. I cannot be entirely sure why I have been living in your mind, but that does not negate the fact that I have been. I take it you took the knowledge about the orcs and my hand to hand combat and put it to good use?
Donathan stood in the doorway of the man’s large office completely stunned unable to for sentences.
The man looked up from his writing. "Quite a lot to take in is it not?
Little bit.
Donathan managed finally.
The man stood up from behind his desk smiling warmly. Please come in, sit down, we need to talk.
The man said motioning to one of the plush sitting chairs that were in front of his desk.
Donathan walked into the office sitting down in the chair on the right silently looking at the strange man who could read his mind waiting for what he would be saying next.
The man smiled again, then sat back down in his seat. The man looked at Donathan curious intent for a few moments as he took his time to choose his words. I know something has happened to my world, Donathan. I just haven’t figured out what it is yet. The glimpses I have managed to gain by looking through your eyes show me a world that I do not recognize yet there are traces of my world in it.
The man stopped talking as he lifted his hands, folding his fingers together, leaving his forefingers in a steeple as he touched them to the tip of his nose as he considered what to say next. When you almost died at the hands of that orc shaman. There was a woman who came to your rescue using very powerful ma-gems. Your girlfriend Sarah, I believe is her name. Such power is not easily wielded, nor do you have any recollection of where she received those stones.
Are you saying Sarah is in trouble?
Donathan blurted out.
The man continued looking at Donathan with measuring eyes before he finally answered. I believe that she is much more than she appeared to be when I first met her. I also believe she could be very important to finding out what has happened to our worlds.
Donathan sat in his seat looking over at the man. It was the first time that he really registered what he looked like. The man seemed to be dressed in some sort of armor, though it was hard for Donathan to place. It looked like a medieval knight’s armor except it was not as bulky and seemed to give the man a complete range of motion. On his back was a large cape that was the most magnificent blue Donathan had ever seen trimmed in a pure white. The man’s face was strong with a square jaw. He had light brown hair with touches
