The Most Wonderful Time of the Year - S J Littlewood

The Most Wonderful Time of The Year

    Chapter 1

It was getting close to the Christmas holidays. Only a couple of weeks away now. My little sister kept reminding me. She's 5, so she's super excited. I, on the other hand, am 17, so it's nothing exciting for me. But I like seeing her face light up when I tell her she only has to go to sleep 14 more times before she wakes up on Christmas day. I like young kids, when the magic is alive. It's a great feeling knowing that you're part of keeping it that way, too.

So yeah. Christmas was 14 sleeps away, and I had very few gifts bought. I had one for my sister, one for my mom, and a couple for friends, but I still had a lot to buy. Luckily, I had a lot of money saved away. I'm just one of those people who save all year for the holidays, birthdays, etc.

So currently I was being dragged through the mall by one of my friends, who I already have a gift for, and who was telling me to get my Christmas shopping in a.s.a.p.

She was pulling my arm out of it's socket as we wormed our through the huge crowds of people to the final store. The one we had been waiting for. The one which held the gift for my best friend.

    Damien.

His name makes him sound like such an evil child, which is in fact my little nickname for him, but in actual fact, he is kind and considerate and my best friend in the entire world, and I hope, one day, even more than that.

Yeah. News flash. I'm gay. And I don't care what anyone thinks about it. I'm not going to run around pretending that I'm straight, chasing after girls, making them think I'm as straight as a ruler when in actual fact, that's only true if the ruler is flexible. I like flexible things. Wink.

Anyway, so I was going to buy a gift for Damien, who doesn't know I like him... Yet.

I hoped to find the most amazingly perfectly brilliant gift one could ever ask for. I ended up getting him a very expensive set of clothes (A nice looking shirt and a pair of jeans) and a very overpriced cologne.

Yeah. Another news flash. I'm a little bit rich.

    Scrap that.

    My parents are millionaires.

My mom and dad both work for huge companies who work on really techy nerdy stuff and I live off of their money. Sort of.

Don't get me wrong, I have a part time job, but I don't get paid much, so when it comes to Christmas shopping, I use some of my money, and a whole lot of theirs.

They love my sponging little ways, though.

My parents are just awesome. They make heaps of money, and let me use as much as I want/need. They don't give me a curfew or a bed time, or make me do my homework, they let me have as many parties as I want and go to as many parties as I want, they let me do what I want basically. As long as I make sure that my little sister doesn't see the parties or the alcohol, I don't disturb her when I come in late, etc. She's a little angel, and I abide by that one rule.

Of course, I get all my homework done anyway, and I am always in bed early enough to get a good nights sleep for the next day, and I always look presentable, and I hardly ever drink alcohol at all. 'Cause I'm just the perfect child.

Anywho. I got home and my parents were at work, as usual. They work through the entire holidays, and on weekends. So I pretty much always have the house to myself, when little Hollie isn't in of course. She spends a lot of time at a little club for people around her age. Between 3 and 7 mostly. It lasts throughout the day for working parents. It's pretty much on all day every day. Charity based. My parents have donated quite a lot to them, and Hollie goes every day, leaving me in peace until 7 when I pick her up, and then she goes straight to bed when we get home, so more peace. When I ever decide I'm in the party mood, I get one of the neighbours to baby sit for me. They are all very good natured, and always agree to take care of Hollie, and I never have parties at my house, just so they don't have to put up with the noise.

So I got home and unlocked the door, empty house as usual. Nice rest after the mall I think. Possibly a movie.

    Possibly a scary movie.

Possibly invite Damien over to watch it with me.

Possibly cuddle into him at the scariest parts.

    Yeah. My master plan.

I took out my cell phone and used the speed-dial for Damien. I'm just that clingy.

He picked up after three rings.

    'Hello?'
