For the Love of Julie - Sherry Raby

I want to thank you in advance for reading my books, and as a thank you, I want to give to you a free copy of Chapter 2 in the ‘The Sisters’  series:

    A Love For Janie

Julie and Janie have been on their own since they were twelve. They have gone from orphaned street children to successful women. Julie has found her love and now it is Janie's turn. When Janie finds the one she wants to share her life with, turmoil begins to surround them. Not everyone wants to see her happy. The neighbors have different ideas about her happiness.

I want to thank my husband for staying in his man cave while I have fun with my writing and for giving me his patience and love.  My daughter has been my guiding light, in that she has become my proofreader and editor, and as always, her honest appraisal of what I have written.

My family is my unending joy, and it is with their unconditional trust and love that makes my writing even more special.

    I love you all.

Thank you, Mama, for believing in me.

    For the Love of Julie

She walked into the restaurant.  Her black skirt; hugging calves, slimmed and tight from hours of exercise.  Her naturally platinum hair was piled with little tendrils hanging on her perfectly unblemished forehead, over her ears, and down the back of her neck.  A single pearl drop hung from a gold chain around her elegant swan-like neck and matching earrings; were her only adornment.  She was wearing a black see-thru blouse with a tight sleeveless t-shirt underneath.  Her 5-inch black stilettos completed the ensemble.  She was the picture of elegance and sophistication.

Phil noticed her from across room.  He couldn’t take his eyes off her.  She was stunning.  He felt his heart skip a beat and his palms begin to sweat like he was on his first date ever.  He looked at them with disgust and automatically went to wipe them on his slacks then pick up his napkin.  Easy boy.  He mumbled as he felt himself hardening at the sight of her.

Her eyes were what truly arrested him.  The crystal blue seemed to be void of color.  He thought they had to be contacts.  Her nails were natural with only a clear polish over them.  She didn’t need anything else to make her feminine or womanly.  She could have written the book.

His friend tapped him on the shoulder.  You aren’t that lucky Bud.  He lifted his glass and drained his Budweiser then held it up for the bartender.  A girl like that doesn’t go on internet dates.  She doesn’t need them.

Phil took in a deep breath.  Yeah.  I guess you’re right.  But who would have thought that Mr. Right needed an internet date.  Yet here I am.

Phil was CEO and owner of one of the biggest and newest internet networking sensations.  It put Snap chat, Tweeting and Facebooking in another league totally away from his.  His was a networking system for people who really wanted friends.  The ones were desperate to get in touch with those they knew well, loved and lost, and fell out of touch with.  His networking helped several families to find their lost and run away children.  His was unlike any other network on the Web. It was run by Private Investigators who freely gave their time, and it worked.

He looked in the mirror over the bar and saw himself.  He was not a GQ type of guy but he kept himself in shape by taking his work to the gym he had installed on the top floor of his building.  Not just his exec’s, but his employees utilized it.

His hair was a little too long, but he hadn’t had time for a haircut.  He hadn’t had time for much of anything, including women, since he went into this business venture with his best friend and now partner.  After a few thousand dollars each, hours of work and head banging, and a lot of time away from family, he and Mike were millionaires.

They had been friends since high school.  They played on the same semi pro football team and Phil was his best man when he married his high school sweetheart, earlier this past summer.  Now Mike was good enough to share Phil’s first date with someone whom he met as only a voice on the phone when called about her services.  Mike’s wife hadn’t arrived yet and a part of Phil wished his date didn’t arrive at all: especially after seeing her.  No one was going to hold up to her.  He would forever be comparing them to her.

Get hold of yourself.  You don’t even know her.  Mike knew him well.  Sometimes it felt like he could read his mind.

Ahhh.  Here comes my lovely bride.  He reached out to a gorgeous brunette.  She had breasts just ripe for pillowing into, hips for pounding and an attitude that could knock a man down in one word.

Starting without me.  She looked at him then leaned in for a long lingering kiss.  If you’ll drink beer without me, I wonder, what else would you do without me?  She lifted an eyebrow and smiled.  Never mind.  You can tell me later or show me.  Tonight is your fantasy night.

Phil blushed at the conversation but knew they didn’t care if he overheard.  They were used to him tagging along nearly everywhere but to the bedroom.

Hey handsome.  Mary kissed me.  She’s not here yet?

Nice observation Sherlock.  I laughed when she stuck her tongue out at me.

Jerk.  She yelled as she sauntered off to the Ladies Room. .

Julie walked over to the bar.  Her perfume, delicate yet spicy, reached his nostrils and Phil took in a deep breath, remembering her scent and put it in his mental file to recall later when he drop the other woman, Janie.

    ––––––––

Julie walked into the bar.  Her eyes scanned the room.  For whom, she didn’t know.  He was just a voice on a phone.  The taped message had been so broke up she couldn’t even hear what all he said let alone how he said it.

Please don’t let him be a toad.  She mumbled as she walked on in.

It took her an hour to put on her make-up and do her hair.  Ten outfits later, she had closed her eyes and starting picking up items from the floor and made a decision
