WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN a 99TH - PERCENTILE STUDENT and a 66TH - PERCENTILE STUDENT?
Please meet Dan and Phil. Dan (on the left) is a high scoring ACT student who likes to spend time with his friend Phil (on the right).
Phil scores much lower on his ACT Reading, even though he has the same grades in school as Dan
and shares most interests with his buddy. They both score high on English Grammar and Math.
If we ask Dan, a 99th - percentile student and Phil a 66th- percentile student what they do when they take a reading test on the ACT, they would both say: READ.
For an outsider, that would mean that they both perform the same activity – reading. In fact, if we saw them take a practice test in a library, Dan and Phil would look identical, but they will be reading differently. What do you think Dan is doing that separates him from Phil?
