Dear Professor La Montagne,

I know we haven’t spoken in a number of years, but I am afraid I didn’t know who else to send this letter to. No one else will believe me. I am not convinced that you will, but I had to take the chance. Someone else must know what I know, what I have seen. This knowledge cannot die with me.

But I am getting ahead of myself. I do not know if you have followed my
