The Random Connection

Lena Sanders was late for work!

It was her first day as Event Planner at the Meridian hotel, and she didn’t want to make a bad impression.

She reached the hotel’s entrance at last, when a tall, muscular man bumped brusquely into her. In a blink of an eye, she lay sprawled on the floor as the man continued walking, not bothering to glance at her.

That jerk! Lena dusted herself hastily and ran after the man. He was obviously in a hurry too.

Hey, you . . ., she accosted the man, her arms akimbo, her face beet red with rage.

Before she could express her anger though, another man blocked her vision and she was gently but determinedly pushed aside. 

I’m sorry, the man murmured.

Lena turned towards him and intended to attack him with a barrage of expletives, but she stopped short when the most soulful, blue eyes stared back at her. His pair of eyes alone made him incredibly attractive.

Hey, Lena shouted louder at the first man who bumped into her. He was scaling the steps of the lounge in big, powerful strides.

I apologize for him, Ma’am. He has an emergency to attend to, the man sounded sincere. However, Lena’s anger was still simmering.

Well, it won’t take a second for him to apologize, for chrissake! Lena barked at the man.

I’m terribly sorry, the man apologized again, and raced to catch up with the first man.
