About this ebook

Working day in and day out at a pet hotel isn’t the most glamourous job. At times, it’s downright lonely. Katie Rays has a special evening planned one night, but a certain customer interrupts that.

Katie has always had a crush on her customer, Robert Ackerman. He is successful, attractive, and loves his dog. But, if there’s anything Robert loves more than his dog, its women. Katie has done her best to keep her distance from Robert, but one night the tension between them becomes too much.

What will Katie do? He’s her customer, for goodness sake. She was supposed to look not touch.

But, oh boy, does she want to keep touching this playboy.

    Chapter One

There he was. Finally, it was only one hour past closing.

I made my way to the front of the store. He waved at me through the glass. I gave him a slight wave back, hiding my irritation.

This was the standard for Robert. Always late. He paid the late fee which was the least he could do and he was kind enough to tip. I suppose that’s why I let him get away with it. It didn’t hurt that he was quite the looker as well.

And the small schoolgirl crush I had. My daydreams got me through the work day, what can I say?

He was taller than me by about half a foot. He had dark, thick hair, cut short, and honey brown eyes. He didn’t have the most perfect bone structure. It was on the thicker side of the spectrum. Even if he left his dog here late fifty percent of the time. Better that then the pound. They did their best most of the time but there was always more inflow than outflow.

I inserted a key into the front door and unlocked it. Robert stepped through the door, brushing me as he passed. I waited for him to get out of the way and I locked it behind us.

It’s fine. I’m glad you gave us a call beforehand, I replied, professional to the T.

I walked with him to the back of the store, checking shelves for fallen toys, food, leashes, you name it. We carried a bit of everything. The back of the store, our main business, was a pet hotel. It brought in a lot of income.

How did Toby do today? he asked me.

Toby was a young yellow lab. He had a lot of energy to say the least. Not that it
