Introduction

Congratulations on taking the first step to starting an online business.  My intention with this book is to help beginning online entrepreneurs build a successful and prosperous business without having to spend thousands of dollars to get started. After years of experience with building several online businesses, I felt it was time to share my knowledge.   In this e-book you’ll find a wealth of tips and information, including resources and techniques to market your business for free or if you’re on a shoestring budget.  

If you’ve always wanted to start an online business, but thought you needed money or had to know special coding to build a website, then this ebook is for you.  I started all my online businesses with virtually no money and very little knowledge on how to build websites.  

Starting an online business can seem very intimidating at first, but it’s much easier than you think.  If you have the drive, motivation and will to succeed, it is inevitable that you will be prosperous with your online venture.  Did you read that?  It is inevitable that you will succeed!  You just have to know and believe that you will succeed.   If you don't believe in your business, it's just not going to work out in the long run.  

It is my goal to be your personal mentor and inspire you so that you will build a successful online business.  There are tons of books out there on the market that promise you riches if you launch an online business, and yes, it’s true that it is possible to make a great deal of money. However, you really must desire it.  In order for your business to succeed, you must have the guts, determination and focus.  You also need to be inspired.  Hopefully you will find that inspiration by reading this ebook.  

Most Important Tip:  Take Action!

It’s one thing to read about starting an online business, but it’s another thing to take action. Gaining knowledge without taking action is pointless and you remain in the same place wondering why you’re still not making money!  So do me and yourself a favor, stop reading this if you don’t plan to take action.   Pass it along to someone who really has the desire to succeed with an online business.

Before we get started, I’d like to tell you my story of how I started an online business with practically no money.  All I had was the drive and inspiration to succeed...

Chapter 1:  My Story

It all started when I bought my first computer back in 2001.  I was so excited to get it that I stayed up all night browsing the internet and even called in sick to work the next day so I could spend the day figuring out how I could make money online.  During college I had read tons of articles about people who were making thousands of dollars a day with their online business and I was determined to do the same.  

At that time my hobbies were art, fashion and home decorating, so my first website featured all three of these topics.  It was a site dedicated to home decorating, art and fashion - all three of my passions.  I sold products through the website, created affiliate links, and made commissions selling other companies’ products (you'll learn more about this later), and even established an account with Ebay to sell products.  All I started with was $11.95 for the web hosting account through Yahoo which included a free domain, and I was on the road to creating a part-time income.   At the time I was still working full time for a tour company and everything was going pretty good until 9/11 hit.  I was laid off and left figuring out what I wanted to do with my life.  Times were getting tough and money was tight. That was when I discovered that there was money to be made on Ebay.  At the time Ebay was just gaining ground as the online marketplace.  

I started researching online businesses and soaked up all the information I could find on the internet.  I studied what the internet marketing gurus were doing and little by little implemented the marketing techniques I learned.  When blogs started popping up all over the place, I discovered more ways to create websites for free and make money from them.  

Fast forward to today…I now have several websites and numerous blogs under my belt.  I’m finally living my dream of working from home.  No more boss to answer to and I can work whenever I want from just about anywhere in the world.  I’ve created multiple
