Spiritual Warfare Training Manual - Philothea

    Spirit

    Let Your Light Shine

Jesus said, I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.  Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.  But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God.  (John 3:19-21, NIV)

Jesus said: 'While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.' (John 9:5, NIV).

Jesus said of His people: 'You are the light of the world.  A city on a hill cannot be hidden.  Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl.  Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.'  (Matthew 5:14-16, NIV)

Where there is darkness, you must shine the Light of the Word of God.  When the lights go out we look for the fuse box or the place to switch on the lights.  There are Power Switches...spiritual power switches to turn on to shed light that blots out the darkness of sin, danger, temptation, anger, disappointment, depression, etc....

To use those power switches we need to be grounded first; grounded in God's Word.

Take Courage my friend. Courage means having a heart, holding something so dear in your heart that nothing but nothing can turn you away...you would die for it.

Jesus gives us authority over evil.

Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases. He sent them to preach the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. (Luke 9:1)

You have the authority; use it.

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. (Luke 10:19)

    Ephesians 2

    He Tore Down the Wall

1-6 It wasn't so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn't know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It's a wonder God didn't lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

7-10 Now God has us where he wants us, with all the time in this world and the next to shower grace and kindness upon us in Christ Jesus.

Saving is all his idea, and all his work. All we do is trust him enough to let him do it. It's God's gift from start to finish! We don't play the major role. If we did, we'd probably go around bragging that we'd done the whole thing! No, we neither make nor save ourselves. God does both the making and saving. He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be
