Foreword
Verbs play a very important role in the Chinese language. However, they do not change their forms like in English. In this sense, Chinese verbs are much easier to learn. Before you start to read this book, here are the following things you should know
1.English translations:
For each phrase or sentence, there are two translations. The first is an explanation to help you understand how a phrase or sentence is structured in Chinese. The second expresses how an English-speaker would say the phrase or sentence.
2.[ ] and { } ,fw
,Q, A as well as D
[ ]
is like a tag that keeps a word or phrase together in many sentences and in some more complex sentence structures{ }
goes outside of [ ] to specify the whole chunk to be a phrase. Function word is abbreviated as fw.
Q is a question, A is an answer, and D refers to a declarative sentence without a question before it.
3.This book is structured according to different functions of life food and drink, clothing, housing, transportation, education and entertainment. You can start from any chapter.
4.There is a CD in the physical book version that comprises of all the audio tracks that you can listen to over and over again to help the content stick in your brain.
5.Finally, learning a new language is like forming a new habit. Try looking at it from this new perspective. Dedicate time each day for study and practice speaking whenever you have the chance. You may be surprised at how quickly you can master this new language. I hope you enjoy learning Chinese verbs!"
