    AUTHOR’S NOTES:

This is book 3 in the The Tree House series. It actually takes place between book 1, The Tree House and book 2, Three in the Tree House. You do not need to have read either of those books before this, but it’s more helpful to understand characters and events in the series if you have read at least one of the other books.

And if you read Pop Star, you’ll recognize other characters that appear or are mentioned here.

My roomie's alarm on her phone was going off. I groaned and rolled over in my bed, hugging one end of the pillow against my ear to block out the chimes that dutifully rolled out from her phone. It was no use. I could still hear the alarm.

Hattie! I grumbled in my half-awake voice.

I didn't hear my roommate stirring on the opposite end of the dorm room. The chimes kept sounding off.

Hattie! I barked out as I sat up from my bed. She was still sound asleep in her bed; her eyes closed and mouth half-open. Her brown hair hung over the side of her cheek, almost falling in her mouth.

I grabbed one of my pillows and threw it at her. I missed. It hit the wall over her head and landed silently on top of her side.

I buried my face in my hands. I could already tell this was going to be a shitty day.
