Dinner was real good, Trevor Lord rumbled as he kissed my forehead. How much longer are ya gonna be, son?

With a smile, I looked up at the six-foot, three-inch muscular goliath standing over the dining table. His handsome, square face, his graying dark hair, his intense blue eyes—everything about him still made me blush like a star-struck fan.

I’m finishing up, Mr. Lord, I replied as he mussed my brown hair with his large hand. I just need to proof this last page.

Good boy. He nodded. "I’ll be waiting upstairs in the den, and then we can watch A Christmas Story – I still can’t believe ya ain’t seen it."

I look forward to seeing it with you, Sir, I replied as he left the dining room. I’ll be there in a minute.

I’d cooked dinner for us: steak on the indoor grill, baked potatoes, and I’d put together a side salad. After I’d cleaned off the table and loaded the dishwasher, Trevor had taken out the garbage while I proofed my final paper for my Comparative Religions class. Dressed in a t-shirt and shorts, I sat at the dining table as the breeze from the air-conditioner blew against my papers.
