About this ebook

Much has been made of the so-called disease of "trophyitis" and whether or not it is lethal to building a strong positive character. Short definition of "trophyitis": "EVERYONE gets a trophy - win, lose or draw." If young folks put on a uniform of any kind, they receive a trophy! I submit to you there is a danger in doing so. It deters recipients from developing the skills and resources to figure out how to effectively resolve issues that come in later life - and they WILL come!
This book has been written for millennials, parents, parents-to-be, grandparents, or just about anyone curious enough to delve into the reason for the title! My goal is to call attention to the dangers of developing a generation that expects immediate gratification and demands the right of entitlement. Maybe, just maybe, not everyone deserves a trophy because he or she is a participant.

    About the Author

    Foreword

Can I change the world? Probably not. Would I like to change the world? Yes – if I could make it better! This is the premise behind my most recent book, which is written for millennials, parents, parents-to-be, grandparents, or just anyone curious enough to delve into the reason for the title! My goal is to call attention to the dangers of developing a generation that expects immediate gratification and demands (strong word) the right of entitlement. Maybe, just maybe, not everyone deserves a trophy just because he or she is a participant.

Much has been made of the disease of trophyitis and whether or not it is lethal. Short definition of the term trophyitis: EVERYONE gets a trophy – win, lose or draw. As a parent and grandparent, I have been there, done that, made the mistakes, learned from the consequences. Now I raise the warning flags of what may lie ahead when each player receives a Participation Trophy. My desire is to pass on the concerns I have for our current generation so that they do not fall into the pit of Oh dear! How did I get here and what are the consequences? There is lasting wisdom in the African saying, It takes a village to raise a child.

Dear reader, please take what I say in this little book to heart with an open mind, but when it applies, take action by being proactive with
