About this ebook

In Spiritual Efficiency And The Expansion Of The Will, Emericus Durden provides the cognitive and behavioral framework to help you get anything you desire, as well as to get rid of all your desires. Careful to avoid technical jargon – never simply revealing ‘the secret’ without providing harsh practical guidance – Durden's latest work of spiritual philosophy presents its case in an easy-to-read, elliptical style designed to disarm the restless intellect and deliver your identity to the endless process of creative expansion.

Author

Emericus Durden

For the past decade, Emericus Durden has been busy creating original, disruptive works of art - both literary art and visual art (still photography). Only recently has he begun presenting his works to the public. In everything he creates, Mr. Durden strives to create works that are intellectually challenging, perhaps even disturbing, though always exciting, suspenseful, and entertaining. In his writings, Mr. Durden has focused on a wide variety of topics, ranging from the sublime - philosophy and spirituality (e.g., "Aiming Higher Than Civilization") to the much more hellish - murder and brainwashing (e.g., "Two Heads Equal Two Hands" and "Great & Mighty Things").Readers concur - you cannot walk away from anything Mr. Durden writes without feeling shaken up and therefore without having grown internally, which is probably all that matters in our lives. Right?

Introduction: Learning To Value Something New

What you know determines what you value. If you don’t know about something, or if you claim to know only that it doesn’t exist, you won’t value it highly, if at all. This philosophical point is essential for appreciating everything I write in this brief but powerful book, essential because everything I discuss below focuses on ‘things’ the reader may not know about. If I’m right about that, and if I’m also right that knowledge determines value, it stands to reason that much of what I discuss below the reader may find phony and worthless.

I cannot abide by that conclusion, for I sincerely believe that what I write here will not only improve the lives of each and every reader, regardless of their cultural background, it will also improve society as a whole. In that sense, I believe this little book is supremely valuable; it’s therefore my goal to reveal to each of my readers how this book is supremely valuable to them as well.

To expand on my initial point: if I expect readers to value a new perspective on life, it behooves me first to teach them something about it. But if they are to learn anything about a truly new perspective, my readers must first value it, at least a little bit, otherwise they may ignore what I have to say. That basic Catch-22 could undermine my project if I’m not careful about how I approach the subject of knowledge.

So, reader, right now what do you know?

A philosophical question demands a philosophical answer. Nonetheless, it’s also a practical question I would never presume to answer on the reader’s behalf. I’m not a mind-reader; I cannot access anyone else’s knowledge outside my own perspective. So I will answer the question in a way that reveals how we all share a common reality:

What you know, what I know, what we all know is this: we each straddle two worlds, the outer world we learn about through our five senses, and the inner world we learn about through mental processes like imagination, memory, reasoning, and will.

The value of this book lies in how it teaches readers a great, quasi-hidden truth about our shared reality: the activity of our inner world (our minds) causes all the activity of our outer world (the universe). The implications of the italicized statement are many, and we will explore them throughout what follows. My favorite implication is this: if we control our minds, we control all the matter
