About this ebook

Little does she know that Lizzie has quite literally disappeared from the face of the Earth. They both end up in a place where armoured knights riding horses, living in castles and enemy witches are all too real rather than just a story in a book. Saving Lizzie is just the beginning though when she discovers things that maybe she was better of not knowing and her sister is just one of the people she wants to protect.
This is a standalone book and does not end on a cliffhanger.

    Chapter 1

My twin sister was the only person I had left in the entire world, but now she was missing.

It had happened a week ago, I had been at work and I had known for a fact that she was planning on staying in that day. When I had returned that night though, she was gone. There had been no signs of break in and our small apartment hadn't been messed up in the slightest. It was also clear that she hadn't left of her own free will because her wallet, phone and everything else she owned, including her car were where I had last seen them. None of our neighbours in the building had heard any sounds of disturbance throughout the whole day either, it was a mystery to everyone and the police had nothing to go on so they couldn't do anything more than simply file the missing person report.

We had lived in England our whole lives and been made orphans at the age of five. Since we hadn't wanted to split up no one had adopted us, it wasn't very common for someone to want to adopt two children at the same time so we had never found a home. Seven months ago when we had reached eighteen we had moved out of the orphanage and started renting our own apartment. Everything had been going great until that day when I had come home to find the place missing my twin sister who was two and a half minutes older than me.

My ex boyfriend had insisted that someone must have taken her and that I should grieve for her, but I knew that she was alive. It was a twin thing and unless you were one yourself you wouldn't understand, but I just knew she was alive. The guy had refused to listen to me no matter how many times I told him hence the fact that he was now an ex. I certainly wasn't going to grieve for a sister that I knew wasn't dead and I refused to give up on her. Every single day after I knew she was missing I had posted signs up all over this town and the surrounding ones with her picture and a contact number, but as of yet there had been no calls.

Today was my first day back at work and I really didn't want to go, but I knew that until I found out something else there was nothing more I could do for Lizzie and I couldn't afford not to work.

With a sigh I climbed out of bed and headed for the bathroom. I couldn't help, but pause and stare into the mirror to see someone so similar to Lizzie staring back at me. Our waist length, curly pale blonde hair with its natural slightly darker blonde highlights running through the strands was almost identical. My big bright blue eyes were a little bit darker than hers, but similar enough that if you saw us separately you would think they were exactly the same. Then our lips, cheekbones, nose's, lips and jaw lines were matching and if it wasn't for the beauty spot just above the corner of Lizzie's lips our clear skin would even look the same. We both had hour glass shaped frames and weren't exactly on the tall side.

I sighed again and turned away to go and take a shower reminding myself that it was me, Lucy staring back and not Lizzie. My shower was quick and after drying my hair I pulled on some smart jeans, calf height black boots and a button up white shirt for my receptionist job. I finished off by brushing my curls one last time and making sure my side fringe was in place.

When I was done I walked out of my bedroom and was heading down the hallway before I stopped at Lizzie's bedroom door. It took a moment of arguing with myself before I built up the guts to go in there. I hadn't been in there once since the day after she went missing. It hurt to see all of her stuff there with no Lizzie, but maybe there would be some kind of clue if I just made myself look. This was my only chance of getting her back now so I told myself to stop being a pussy and pushed the door open.

Despite the fact that the detectives had been through every inch of this place everything looked untouched and I had to hand it to them, they hadn't left a trace of evidence that they had been in here.

Walking over to her bed, which was still made I sat on the edge of it and stared around the room. I scanned everything, but came up empty. With a groan I lay back on the bed, but immediately sat back up with a squeak when something dug into the bottom of my spine. Reaching behind me I grabbed the instigator before lifting it up to eye level. I immediately realised what it was, Lizzie had bought it at a charity shop the morning of the day she vanished. It was an old looking locket on a chain that looked just as ancient. The thing was oval and had amazing designs etched into it, I had to agree with the first comment she had made on it, it really was beautiful. She had loved it and taken it to the counter immediately. I remembered then that it was the last time I had seen her smile and it had my heart clenching in my chest.

She's alive, I'll see her again. I started whispering to myself to hold back tears that wanted to break free.

Seeing her so happy was a good memory to hold onto and this locket would help me remember that if I ever lost hope so I unclasped the chain before lifting the ends behind my neck and fastening it. When I dropped my hands the locket was resting between my breasts. Then everything suddenly went black.

When I came to I was laying on my front on something soft and earthy smelling. I dragged my eyes open with a groan to find a tree trunk. What the hell was going on? Pushing my hands beneath me I lifted myself up and into a sitting position before looking around. I appeared to be in a forest hence the earthy smell and the soft area I had been laying in was foliage, which had been surprisingly comfortable. Huge trees surrounded me, which were so high that I couldn't even see the tops of them and they were so close that their branches interlocked blocking out almost all of the light, but thankfully there was still enough to see by.

I looked down at myself, my clothes and hands were filthy and my face probably wasn't much cleaner. It felt like I was Alice and had fallen down the rabbit hole, except there was no sign of a grinning cat or a mad hatter. How the hell had I even gotten here? The last thing I remembered doing was putting that necklace on and now I was on the floor of a forest. Then it dawned on me, maybe I was here because of that necklace and this was where Lizzie was. I shook my head to clear it. That was ridiculous, things like that didn't really happen, did they?

Shaking my head again I climbed to my feet and looked around the seemingly empty forest, I couldn't even hear any animals. I wasn't sure which way I should go, but I knew there was no way I could just sit here forever so I started walking in the direction I was facing.

It was hard work trekking through the forest and I tripped over the humungous tree roots more than once. Hours could have passed by, but there was no way for me to tell and I was soon exhausted. When I finally stopped to take a break I leaned against a tree to catch my breath. I was about to start making a move again, but came to a stand still when I heard the whoosh sound something made when it was moving fast. Turning around on the spot I looked behind me, sure that I had heard it coming from there.

I had been proud of myself for how calm I had kept during this whole crazy situation, but I had to admit that I was beginning to freak out when I heard it again and turned around. This time I was sure I saw the shadow of something moving before it disappeared again.

Not caring where I was going anymore I started running, I watched the ground in front of me determined not to trip on another root and sprinted. Despite my exhaustion the fear had given me a new boost of energy and I was taking full advantage of it. The only downside to paying so much attention to the forest floor was that I couldn't look where I was going at the same time, which was why I suddenly hit something full force. I caught a whiff of the smell of metal and heard the clang as I hit it before I fell back on my ass to look up and up at the six foot form of someone dressed in full armour.

He had on a breastplate, greaves, gauntlets, a helmet and whatever the hell everything else was called, he had on the whole lot with a sword and everything, I felt like I had fallen into some kind of medieval time. The only thing he was missing was a shield, but seriously with that much armour on, did you really need a shield? He certainly didn't look very friendly and he had his sword half raised, shit, was I about to get my head chopped off? My eyes widened when I saw a couple of people, who were also armoured appearing out of the trees close to him.

A shriek escaped my throat and I stumbled to my feet before turning and running in the opposite direction. Where the hell was I and what was was this place?

I heard someone yell Stop her! from behind me, which only made me run faster. What had I ever done to them, what did they want with me? Maybe I was breaking some kind of law by being here.

The armoured men had shocked me so much that I had completely forgotten about the shadowy things I had been running from in the first place. It wasn't long though before I was reminded that I was heading straight for them, but at this stage I didn't know which of them were friendly, if any, neither of them seemed friendly to look at.

I came to a sudden halt when shadows dove from every gap in the trees around me. When they landed in front of me I was staring at something that looked like a twig, except it was as black as a shadow, it wasn't just shadows I had been seeing, it was the actual thing. Its hands and feet were clawed and it looked slimy, it didn't even look like there were any other features, that was it. Then it made some kind of growling sound, it sounded like a lion with a sore throat and I would have laughed had I been in any other situation, but this one.

The one directly in front of me dove at me and my brain couldn't work quickly enough for me to duck so I was about to be shadow creature food, but something grabbed my waist and literally threw me to someone as a deep voice shouted.

    Take her to the horses.

I was caught in that moment and lifted onto someone's shoulder before he was running fast through the forest. It was a little while before I realised what was happening, someone was kidnapping me!

Put me down! I screamed as I started punching and kicking him, but I wasn't even making a dent in his armour and he ignored me as he continued to run as if I wasn't even saying anything, but then again maybe he couldn't hear me with that stupid metal helmet on his head.

Eventually he put me on my feet and I glanced around to see that we were standing on green grass with about twenty horses nearby. Horses, really? Who rode about on horses or wore armour? I had no idea, but I wasn't about to be taken by these guys.

Before the guy who had taken me could do anything about it I swung my foot up until it hit him between the legs, which was thankfully lacking in armour. He groaned and fell to his knees clutching his manhood so I took my chance and ran around him and back in the direction of the forest. I didn't really want to see the shadowy things again, but I stood more chance of losing these guys in there.

I had barely run through the first line of trees before I did the same thing I had done earlier and collided with someone in armour before falling on my ass. Looking up I was sure it was the same guy I had run into earlier too, he was slightly taller and his shoulders were wider than the rest and his helmet was slightly different, it had some kind of symbol etched onto the side of it.

Without warning he lifted me to my feet and I tilted my head at him wondering if he really meant me harm or not. Deciding not to take the risk I swung my foot up to kick him too, but he was ready for me and grabbed my ankle mid swing before flipping me onto my front. I didn't even have time to regain my equilibrium before he had me off the ground again and my back pressed against the front of his armour with an arm around my waist and another around my shoulders to hold me in place no matter how much I struggled.

Let go of me! I screamed angrily trying to pull his arm off of me, but I couldn't get a grip on the metal.

When I began to tire I was breathing heavily and went limp in his grip as I seethed silently. That was when he spoke to me and his deep voice sent shivers up my spine in a way that made me curse my body for betraying me.

You have two choices here, I can let you go and you can run into that forest and the Stonemen will capture you and they will kill you. Or you can come with us quietly and live.

How do I know that you're not just saying that so you can kill me yourself? I hissed at him figuring that the Stonemen were the slimy things, but not really sure how they got their name. They looked nothing like stone to me.

Would I have really gone to the trouble of saving your ass despite the fact that you've run from me screaming, kicked one of my men between the legs and sent one of my horses running with your shrieking if I was doing it just to kill you?

Your man will recover and I'm sure your horse will come back, I really haven't done that much damage. I muttered.

True, but trust me, if I wanted you dead I would have killed you long before you could have caused that much trouble.

I grunted. Fine, say I believe you. Where exactly are you planning on taking me?

I will take you back to my castle and you will stay with the others we have rescued from the same situation.

Castle? Really, he had a castle and then my heart started beating faster. They had rescued others?

Have you rescued someone that looks like me before? I asked.

No, everyone up until now has had dark hair. He answered.

You're lying. I hissed tugging out of his loosened grip and turning towards him. You have to have seen her!

You asked if I rescued her, not if I have seen her.

So you have seen her? I asked.

He sighed and looked away. We don't always find them in time to save them, but yes, I've seen her.

Then where is she? I asked, already knowing the answer, but I didn't want to believe it.

The Stonemen have her. He answered, confirming my fears.

I shook my head and felt tears bead at the corners. No. Then I turned to head towards the trees, but not before he grabbed my arm so I turned on him. Let me go, if that's where she is, then that's where I'm going.

That's suicide, I may as well save you the effort and kill you now. He stated.

She is my sister! I yelled. My twin sister, I'm not just going to leave her there!

It was a week ago, they have her, it's probably too late. He said sounding sorry.

No! I shouted. It's not too late, she's still alive, I know she is. It's not something you would get unless you have a twin, but I know she's not dead! I'm not just going to go off to some castle and leave her there to die!

If she's alive then we'll rescue her, but this isn't the way to do it. We plan attacks on that place every few weeks to save any prisoners, if she's there we'll get her out, but going in there alone isn't the answer.

So, if I come with you, you'll get her out? I asked looking at him, but I couldn't tell if he was being honest from his look because of the damn helmet.

If she's still alive, then yes, we'll get her out. He confirmed, he sounded honest at least.

I sighed and pulled my arm out of his large hand before crossing my arms. Fine, I guess I'll come with you. I said sounding like I was doing him a favour when actually he was the one doing me a huge favour. What is this place anyway?

The others can explain when we get back, right now we need to get out of here. He said before taking my wrist and leading me to the horses.

Can I at least get your name? I asked angrily when he stopped beside a black horse and finally released the rough hold he had on my wrist.

    Connor. He muttered.

I'm Lucy. I replied still angry at his refusal to at least tell me where the hell I was and after everything that had happened today I was pissed off so unfortunately for Connor I was taking it out on him. I would say it's nice to meet you, but I was taught not to lie.

He stopped whatever he was doing to his horse and looked at me, I could almost feel his glare through the helmet as he growled out angrily.

Let me make myself very clear Lucy. I didn't have to come out here today and rescue you from those things, I could have simply left them to take you. My plan for today did not consist of rescuing a damsel in distress, but I was kind enough to come all the way out here and do it anyway. I have never known anyone so damn unappreciative of having their life saved! Next time, I'll know to leave you to rot.

I crossed my arms and looked at the ground with a pout knowing I had been a bitch. I'm sorry. I murmured. I do appreciate it and I'm sorry, I've just had a bad day, but that's no reason to take it out on you. Thank you for saving me. I looked up and glared at him then. But you're still an ass and I would hit you if your metal helmet wouldn't break my hand when I tried!

He sighed and muttered. Damn pain in the ass woman.

I did something immature then and stuck my tongue out at him before turning away and walking up the grassy hill. Only then did I notice that nineteen other armoured men were sitting on their horses and waiting to go.

Now what are you doing? He asked clearly losing his patience.

What does it look like I'm doing? I shouted. I'm walking to your castle, care to give me directions?

Its ten miles, now get on the horse. He growled.

I am not getting on that horse, me and horses do not mix. They hate me, the moment I get on one they throw me off. I'd rather make it through the day without being trampled on by a horse thank you. So, directions please.

He groaned and ran a gloved hand over the visor of his helmet before growling out. The horse will not throw you off, now get on this horse or so help me I will tie you down on the damn thing the whole way.

Did anyone ever tell you that you're really bossy? I asked not caring about his threat.

One of the men close by snorted in amusement, but quickly turned it into a cough when it earned him a glare from Connor.

Horse, now! He roared at me.

I sighed. Fine, I'll get on the horse, but I'm warning you, if it throws me off then I will take your sword and stab you in the face. I said as I walked back down to him and looked at the horse warily. I'm not sure about th-. I started before it turned into a shriek when he lifted me from the ground without warning and deposited me onto the horse. I closed my mouth quickly not wanting it to throw me off because I upset it and held my breath. After a minute when I was sure it wasn't about to launch me across the grass I asked. Didn't you get taught that it was rude to manhandle people?

He climbed onto the horse behind me before answering. If you'd grown up here, you would realise that I don't give a damn what is rude and what isn't, I do what I want.

I huffed and crossed my arms, but jolted forwards when without warning Connor shook the reins and the horse started into a canter. My balance wasn’t very good on a horse to say the least and I wobbled like crazy, I was sure that I was going to fall off before we made it ten miles.

After about a mile my whole body was aching, not only because of the fact I wasn't used to riding a horse, but because I was tensed up as I tried to hold myself steady on the horse. It was another mile later when I groaned and asked.

How do you ride these things all the time? It really hurts. My ass feels like it’s been spanked repeatedly for the past fifteen minutes and I don't think my spine is straight anymore.

He chuckled, it was the first time I had heard him laugh and it wasn't at all unpleasant to the ears. Then he slid an arm around my waist and tugged me back until my back was flat against his chest making me sit up straight.

Sit up and try not to bounce so much.

I did as he advised, but it didn't lessen the pain at all, it felt like I was having my legs pulled off, I'd never ached so much in my life.

This could be used as a form of torture. I muttered.

It could, but your body gets used to it after a while, so it wouldn't last for very long. Connor replied.

Can you let me off so I can walk the rest of the way? I asked.

I can remember my first time riding so believe me when I tell you that you aren't up to walking five miles right now.

I grunted. This is your fault, you should have let me walk.

I could have, but we will get there in an hour and it would probably have taken you four or five hours to walk. It would have been dark enough that you couldn't even see where you were going by that time.

Whatever. I mumbled around a yawn not willing to admit to him that riding was obviously preferable to that.

After that the exhaustion of the day really began to wear down on me, I had run through the forest for who knew how long, I had been freaked out beyond anything and my body felt fit to fall apart. Even though Connor had told me to sit up I started slumping against him as the strength left my body and my eyelids grew heavy. I tried to stay awake, I really did because I wanted to see where we were going, but it didn't seem like it was going to be possible. My eyes closed and the last thing I heard was the sound of the horses hooves as they trotted before my mind shut down and if my body hadn't hurt so much I would have thought it would lead to me waking up from a dream, but the pain reminded me that this insane place was all too real.

    Chapter 2

I woke up with a groan feeling like I had been hit with a truck, rolled over the bonnet and up the windscreen before falling off, then the truck had stopped and reversed over me, all four wheels squashing me into the ground. The truth of the matter though was that the drivers name was Connor and the truck had been a horse and there had been no driving involved.

When I forced my eyes open it was to find myself laying in a wooden double bed that looked even nicer than the one I had at home and would have probably been more comfortable if I wasn't still recovering from the after effects of horse riding.

Glancing around the room that was larger than mine and Lizzie's bedrooms put together I found a desk with a chair, a dressing table, a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, bedside cabinets on both sides of the bed and a single door. Everything looked expensive and old and it probably would have cost thousands to buy in England. The walls and ceiling were a plain magnolia colour and the carpet was red, it looked thick and just as expensive as the furniture. I guessed that this was one of the rooms in Connor's house, well Castle as he had called it. This meant that I was in a real life bloody castle in a world where they wore armour, used swords and rode horses with Stonemen in the forest, which really looked more like slimy men. What the hell was next?

I was just forcing my sore body to the edge of the bed and sitting up when there was a knock at the door.

Come in! I called when I had achieved my aim.

A woman who was probably in her early twenties walked in with a bright grin on her face. She had straight mousy brown hair, which reached just past her shoulders and was curvier than I was. Her eyes were a warm brown and looked just as friendly as her face making me relax immediately in her presence. She was wearing a summer dress that wasn't all that different from clothes I could have bought at home.

    Hi. I said. I'm Lucy.

Her grin stayed in place and she bounced over to me before holding her hand out to me and saying.

Hey, I'm Stephanie, it's nice to meet you. I reached out and shook her hand, but she continued talking. You've been asleep for two days now, we were starting to wonder when you were going to wake up. Connor said you didn't know anything about where we are so I volunteered to tell you everything. My eyes widened in surprise as she continued on. We are all from Earth and from what we can tell, everyone is from England. This place had people from here originally a long time ago and Connor was the first one to arrive when he was twelve years old so the King and Queen of that time took him in and brought him up. After that though more and more people arrived from England. Now as the years have gone by practically everyone is from England, but ten years went by with no more people until recently, ten of us have come through so far this time, you're the tenth, but the Stonemen managed to get a few of them before Connor could. She finally took a breath and was still smiling at me like she hadn't just shaken my hold on reality. We weren't even on Earth anymore, what the hell was going on?

What are the Stonemen? I asked.

Well, they are creatures that the witch from the mountains made to steal us, she needs us humans from England for her spells to keep her young. They were originally called Slimemen until one was killed and it turned to stone, that's how they got their name Stonemen and Connor got his name Tombstone master because he has killed the most Stonemen, sending them to their tombs, get it?

Uh, yeah. I murmured trying to stop my brain from spinning thanks to the information overload.

She giggled. You look like you're about to run screaming.

I gave her a small smile. Tempting, but no, I can't leave here yet. Do you know where Connor is? I asked her.

She frowned and tapped her lips as if in deep thought. "Probably on the top floor, in his room since it is late evening. It's the one with the guards in front of the doors, we aren't allowed in there though, the guards refuse to let people in without asking Connor at least an hour in advance.

I rolled my eyes, they could just try and keep me out. Ok, well could you direct me anyway, so I could make an appointment? I asked her.

She grinned and bounced towards the door. Of course, follow me.

I forced my aching limbs to lift me from the bed and followed her to the door. I was right behind her when she walked outside and I closed the door behind me before glancing around the stone corridor, which surprisingly had electric lights in, but then again if everyone was from Earth it wasn't too surprising.

She turned left and I followed her, she seemed really energetic, but I was struggling with walking in my state let alone bouncing with every step. After a few twists and turns we came upon a stone staircase and she lead the way up. On every level there was another corridor and with every level my legs felt more and more like jelly. I was panting when she finally stopped at the top, but she was still grinning and seemed just as bouncy as ever.

Give me a second. I panted as I caught my breath.

Sure, all these stairs take some getting used to, it took me two weeks before I could walk up these stairs without stopping for a break, I'm impressed that you made it first time.

I smiled at her as my breath began getting back to normal and said. Ok, I'm good.

She nodded and pointed at the end of the corridor, if you walk as far as you can, then turn right and walk a bit more you'll see the guards outside his door, talk to them and they will arrange an appointment for you.

I nodded. Thanks Stephanie, I'll see you later?

She nodded again, I'll find you later.

I smiled and she started back down the stairs, shaking my head still in amazement at her energy I started down the corridor. There was no way I was waiting an hour or more to see him, I would be reasonable of course and tell the guards I had to see him now. If they didn't let me see him though, I would be going in there with or without their permission.

When I turned the corner I could see the guards about fifty yards ahead so I started walking and thought I'd have a go at just walking past them. Maybe if I looked confident enough then they wouldn't stop me, but I knew that it was wishful thinking even before they shouted Halt at me.

I sighed and looked at the one who had stepped forward.

    What? I asked.

State your business and we will arrange a time with the Tombstone Master, which is convenient for him.

I rolled my eyes, of course they would.

That's very nice, but the matter is urgent and I need to see him now. I stated.

The Tombstone Master will decide if it is urgent, now state your business and leave. The guy in armour said sounding like he was losing his patience quickly.

I sighed. Ok, maybe you misunderstood me. I am seeing him now and I'd like to see you try and stop me. I hissed.

Without missing a beat the guy drew his sword, oh shit, I was sure that, that was a bit over the top. I didn't look that threatening did I? Either way he was about to impale me with a sword if I didn't do something. Not knowing what else to do I let out a full on girly scream bringing the guy to a sudden stop. He was clearly shocked by my reaction and taking advantage of his surprise I sprinted the last few feet towards the doors. I heard the knights take chase immediately, but before they could reach me I burst through the door full force. The impact shook the bones in my body and I fell into the room before my arms were grabbed roughly and I was forced to my feet.

Let me go! I yelled trying to fight their bruising grip off, but there were all sorts of sharp pieces on their armour and all I was achieving was gaining cuts across my arms even through the long sleeves of my shirt, which were also being torn to accompany the bruises that I knew would be there soon enough.

Release her! I heard a dominating growl, which had me snapping my head up towards the man that I could tell was Connor from his voice alone since I had never actually seen him without his armour until now and I had really been missing out.

His hair was dark brown, which was naturally styled into messy waves and I just wanted to run my fingers through it. He had striking brown eyes with thick lashes that any girl would be jealous of. The hair on his face wasn't completely clean shaven, he had a little stubble and it looked good on his strong jaw line. He was wearing a t-shirt, which was tight against his chest making his muscles stand out and I could only imagine the six pack and triangle outline, which would lead down beneath the black lounge pants he was wearing. His feet were bare and despite his casual appearance he didn't look any less threatening than he had with full armour on.

So engrossed in examining Connor from head to toe I hadn't realised that the knights were still gripping my arms tightly enough that I could feel my blood trickling across my skin.

But Sir, she ran through without permission, she could mean you harm. The guy who had spoken to me said lamely.

Does she look threatening to you? Now let her go and get back to your job! Connor yelled in a voice that no one in their right minds would question.

I winced when they released me rubbing their hands against my cuts in the process before I heard them walk out. Connor looked at me then and he didn't look very pleased, his jaw was twitching in annoyance.

Is there a reason that you just tried to get yourself run through with a sword?

I gave him a look as if he was stupid as I moved my arms from behind me and rubbed them hoping to make them feel better.

No, I just like living life on the edge. I said flatly.

His eyes were on my face, but they left it suddenly and focused on my arms instead.

    You're bleeding. He growled.

Gee, thanks, you're a genius. I muttered looking down at my blood covered sleeves, which now had blood on my hands thanks to my attempt at rubbing them better. It had failed miserably, they felt as if they were burning.

Enough with the sarcasm! He demanded.

I like sarcasm. I mumbled, which was true, but sarcasm was also my go to method when I was having trouble dealing with the situation.

Sarcasm is amusing in the right situation, this isn't it. He stated.

Fine. I relented as I glared at my stinging arms as if it was their fault they were bleeding.

Come. He ordered before nodding towards a doorway.

    Why? I asked warily.

It's only a bathroom. He informed me. To clean your arms up.

Oh, ok. I said before following him across the room that was similar to the one I had woken up in except his was twice the size and he had a bigger bed, which was a four poster and looked even more comfortable than mine. He didn't have a wardrobe or chest of drawers, but I could see two pairs of double doors, one of them probably lead into a walk in wardrobe, but I had no idea what could be behind the other ones. His carpet was dark blue and looked even thicker than the one in my room, I bet it felt amazing beneath bare feet. That's probably why he didn't have anything on his feet. I also noticed a fireplace at one side of the room, but it wasn't lit and it wasn't cold in here by any stretch of the imagination.

When we walked into the bathroom the first thing I noticed was the shower, it was large enough to be classed as a small room and was probably as big as mine and Lizzie's whole bathroom. There was a bathtub in one corner, which was probably twice the size of your average tub. Then there was a counter to my right, which had two sinks with bathroom cabinets with mirrors on above each. With how extravagant everything else was I was surprised to find just a normal toilet, but then how could they make a toilet more exciting? The whole place was decorated with white tiles and pale blue walls, then the floor had large pale black tiles, it was actually an awesome looking bathroom and whoever designed it had good taste.

Sit. He stated with a nod towards a seven foot long wooden backless bench in the centre of the room with leather padding on top similar to the ones they had in shoe stores. I hadn't even noticed that it was there until that point.

Without a word I walked towards it, but came to a stop when I caught sight of myself in the mirror. My face had dirt smudges on and my hair was suffering from not only the abuse in the forest, but also from sleeping on it. Not to mention the fact that there were still a couple of leaves and small twigs caught in the curls thanks to the forest floor. I looked a complete mess, no wonder his guards had tried to attack me, they probably thought I was a crazy person.

What a wonderful look Lucy. I mumbled to myself before walking over to the bench and sitting on it.

I could have sworn I saw Connor's lip twitch, but I didn't say anything and neither did he before he headed to the counter and opened the cupboard beneath one of the sinks before coming up with a first aid kit in a plastic case. He walked over to me then and knelt in front of me before opening it.

Take your shirt off. He said as he peered into the box.

Excuse me? I asked, sure I had misunderstood him.

He looked away from the box and up at me. If you don't take your shirt off I can't get to the cuts and they need to be cleaned, armour isn't the cleanest stuff in the world and your cuts are likely to get infected if they aren’t treated correctly. I frowned and hesitated so he added. You're wearing a bra, right?

Yeah. I muttered wondering where he was going with this, was he going to give a reason for me to take that off too?

Then how is taking your shirt off any different than wearing a bikini?

Well, a bikini is swimwear and a bra is underwear. I stated.

It still covers the same. He said making a good point to my annoyance.

Fine. I mumbled as I started unbuttoning my shirt glad that I had put on one of my good bras the morning I had dressed in these clothes.

I winced as I shrugged the shirt off and the material slid over the still open cuts making me chew my lip to stop another flinch before I held my arms in front of me to see them covered in blood. When they were like this I couldn't even tell where I was bleeding from, if I hadn't known better I would think that every inch of my arms had been cut open.

Shit. I heard him mutter before getting up and fetching a small towel then wetting it under the tap and returning to his position, kneeling on the floor in front of me. Sorry, but this might sting. He warned and I nodded.

He started at the top of one arm and wiped the blood from there all the way down to my wrist before moving onto the other one. I was chewing my lip hard enough that it actually hurt, but I still couldn't stop a whimper from escaping my throat once.

When he was done cleaning the blood away he dropped the bloody towel into the sink and returned to search through the first aid kit before coming up with antiseptic wipes. I almost groaned knowing they were going to sting like hell, but I knew it had to be done so I kept quiet and let him get on with it.

Thankfully none of the cuts were too deep or too long so the wipes were enough to clean them and I didn't need anything to cover them. Don't get me wrong, they still felt like my arms were on fire, but at least there was no lasting damage.

Thanks. I said as he packed away the first aid kit and threw the ruined towel into the trash.

I picked up my shirt to pull back on not knowing what else to do, I wasn't going to walk around the place in a bra. Before I could he snatched it out of my hands and threw that in the trash too.

Hey! I objected. What am I supposed to wear now?

Wait here. He said before leaving the room.

I rolled my eyes and got up to walk over to the mirror and start picking the foreign objects out of my hair. It was amazing how many things so much hair could pick up on a journey through the forest and it took a little while before I finally
