Bawling to Crawling is authored by Denise James and Judith Culpin.Denise and Judith are practising health visitors. They have both enjoyed a career in nursing with wide-ranging and differing interests.Denise has nursed in America and the UK and spent many years as a senior lecturer in nursing with a particular interest in palliative care. After some years of hospice work she returned to her love of babies to practice as a health visitor.Judith too has worked in America and enjoyed her early career as an adult nurse before training as a neonatal intensive care nurse.Denise and Judith worked together as health visitors for ten years and observed that all parents seek the same advice, especially in the early days of coping with a new baby.Denise lives in Northamptonshire, England and has two grown up sons.Judith lives in Bedfordshire, England with her husband and two teenage children.

The arrival of your new infant will mean that you will rapidly become an expert on all aspects of childcare. Children become the centre of our world and somewhere in it all ‘we as parents’ need to hold on to our own sense of identity. There is a vast amount of information available, specifically advising on baby care and largely it is aimed at mothers. There is much less information for fathers and how their lives might change and what they can do to help and enjoy early family life.
