About this ebook

Mark Gilbert is invited to the rehearsal dinner of his good childhood friend Lacey Stevens. He is doing it as a favor simply because Lacey does not have many friends in the city that she can invite. He is one of her few friends from back home.

Another of her few friends is Sheridan Newman who she met in secretarial college 4 years ago and have been good friends with ever since.

Mark is an accountant and is the junior partner in a firm. Unknown to him Sheridan had applied for, and accepted, a position with that firm. After the wedding Mark and Sheridan hook up and go their separate ways the next day . . . or so they think.

The company has a “no fraternization” clause in its contracts.

Just One Night - Nicole Ann Drake

    Book 2—Just One Night

It was fate pure and simple. That was the only way it could be viewed. If there was another explanation it was not immediately forthcoming. It had to have been fate that would have landed them both at the same wedding at the same time having a connection to the same person, the bride. As if that was not enough, fate had also landed them in the same hotel, as they were out of town guests. It would stand to reason therefore that fate (with a little nudge from lust and libido and a teensy bit too much champagne) had also landed them in the same bed and a passionate night had ensued. It had been a whirlwind of a weekend but now the dawn of a new workweek was all that was needed to put things into perspective.

Twenty-four year old Sheridan Newman smoothed out her skirt carefully as she sat waiting in personnel. Her strawberry blond hair was pulled away from her face into a bun. She had taken extra care with her makeup as she wanted to convey an image of the professional secretary in spite of her youth. She stood five feet seven inches in her bare feet and so her low-heeled pumps gave her the added height needed to stand tall. She looked around her and sighed gratefully. She had applied for this job with Walker & Walker Accounting Firm months ago and had all but forgotten about it when she had received the call. She had driven the three hours necessary to attend the interview a month ago and now here she was—the newest addition to the secretarial team of the well established firm of accountants. She was simply waiting on personnel to give her further directions to her new department.

She had resigned from her job three weeks ago and had used that time to find an apartment closer to her new company. She had a half hour commute that was manageable. She had flown in from Lacey's wedding at six p.m. last evening having caught the three o'clock flight out.

She thought back to the weekend she had just come out
