About this ebook
When a cryptic letter is left at the doorway of her dormitory, nineteen-year-old succubus Skylark Quinn is sent in place of her nemesis, Alexis, on a top secret mission. Why she has to go with Kragan Kane—the biggest jerk, and hottest incubus on campus—is beyond her, but the decision’s well above her pay grade.
All Skylark knows for sure is the ancients are keeping secrets and the supernatural community is on edge. Rumors claim immortals’ powers are at risk, but burdened by a supernatural power she despises, why should Skylark even care?

Supernatural Chronicles - Julia Crane
Chapter One
Aloud knock on the door startled Skylark awake. Groaning, she tossed the covers off her in a huff, flung her long legs over the side of the bed, and rose to her feet. A quick glance at the clock told her it was barely past eight a.m. Way too early for anyone in their right mind to be awake on a Saturday.
Skylark padded across the cool hardwood floor, tripping over one of the throw rugs, while shooting her unconscious roommate, Alexis, a scathing glare. That good for nothing hadn’t even stirred. No surprise, she was fast asleep with a smile on her face. Knowing that wench, she was more than likely messing with some undeserving guy in his dreams.
Annoyed, Skylark pulled the door open only to see there was no one there. Had she dreamt the banging on the door? Just as she was about to shut the door she noticed a white envelope shimmering on the ground. When Skylark reached down to pick it up, magick sizzled through her hands. What in the world?
After glancing around to make sure there was no one lingering in the hallway, Skylark shut the door and shuffled back into the kitchen nook. Dropping down into the seat, she turned the envelope over to examine it. There wasn’t a name on the front. But there were literally flecks of gold floating around it. Interesting.
Curious, she tore it open, finding a simple piece of off-white card stock. It appeared to be an invitation. Great, just what they needed, another supernatural party. But once she flipped it over it was obvious this wasn’t a normal invitation.
They were both commanded to appear before the ancients. This was quite unusual. Both her and Alexis were on the lower rungs of their kind since they were still growing into their powers. What in the world could the elders want with them? According to the invitation they had less than an hour to get there. After stealing another glance at Alexis, who was still lost in slumber land, Skylark thought of all the nasty things that girl had done to her over the years and decided it would serve Alexis right to be late.
Quickly, Skylark went to change her clothes. What did one wear to meet the most important members of their succubi clan? Finally she settled on a form fitting black dress, with a cardigan. There was a chill in the air, and the castle where the elders lived was always freezing, from what she remembered as a young girl.
Alexis, I’m heading out,
Skylark mumbled under her breath.
Alexis rolled over onto her side, but didn’t acknowledge her. Skylark made her way to the door. The tiniest bit of guilt came over her for not waking Alexis, so she turned around, grabbed the envelope, and dropped it on Alexis’s chest. You’ll want to read this as soon as you wake up.
There was a groan but nothing else.
With a shrug Skylark walked out the door and down the long, narrow hallway of their dormitory. She had to skirt around one of the co-ed’s sleeping in front of someone’s doorway. College itself wasn’t so bad, but having her nemesis as a roommate sucked. Alexis and Skylark were raised together at the home of the elders; not that they ever saw much of the ancients, they were raised by servants mostly. Succubi were taken from their mothers at birth. It was feared if the mother and child formed a bond, the powers of the succubus would diminish … or even worse, the child would never come into hers.
Gods forbid there weren’t enough soul-sucking demons to go around, Skylark thought bitterly as she pushed open the large double doors, stepping into the crisp morning air. After trudging across the manicured lawns, she made her way to the little black convertible and slid into the driver’s seat. There was a slight tug at her conscience about leaving Alexis, but not much of one, seeing as that girl made it her mission to make Skylark’s life miserable. She was so power hungry she was constantly afraid that Skylark would surpass her. Ridiculous.
They were complete opposites. Skylark hated being a succubus and Alexis thrived on the power. She didn’t see what all the fuss was about. Yes, they were powerful, yes men would drop to their knees at a single glance, but what good did that do? They could never have a normal relationship. It wasn’t like the guys cared about them; they were compelled by their soul’s essence. They couldn’t resist if they tried. Sex magick was powerful stuff, and if one weren’t careful they could easily kill the poor fools that were under their spells.
It had been ages since Skylark was able to have a normal conversation with a guy, instead of them acting like submissive yes men. And what really sucked was they had to
