Triambika Omkar - Rudrakshh
life…
part 1
Rising from Death
Present Day…
It is said that love is strength and courage in disguise. If you love someone from the bottom of your heart your love will give you enough strength and courage to move even mountains. May be that is why Omkar could come back from the dead. After being brutally assaulted and taking the worst beating of his life…
Omkar slowly opened his eyes; the world was a blur to him. The first thought that occurred to him was
‘Did I finally die?’
‘Is this heaven?’
‘Where am I?’
Someone handed him his spectacles.
He thought ‘Oh so I am still alive’
‘Because as far as I hopefully believe, you don’t need spectacles in heaven.’
He put the spectacles on and looked around. Finding himself in a small hospital room, on a white bed, wearing some kind of a thin silky blue and white striped uniform, he became startled and tried hard to make some sense out of his surroundings.
‘What is this room?’
‘When and why did I wear such a dress?’
He looked at his hands; a needle and bandage were stuck in his right hand. Looking around he saw a saline bottle hung up in the air. He thought
‘I am being fed saline!’
Some machine was continuously making a ‘beep’ sound, looking at his left hand he saw some clip stuck to his finger and some heavy cloth tied around his elbow. Still nothing was making sense to him.
He turned and looked at the only human other than him in the room, a girl. She looked deprived of sleep and tired and had a bandage on her forehead. She smiled at him and said,
How are you feeling, Omkar?
Do you recognise me?
I am your girlfriend, Jahnavi.
Getting no response from Omkar, she continued
You have been unconscious for more than eight hours now.
Doctors fear a possible temporary loss of memory due to shock.
Hearing this Omkar was shocked and said,
What?!
Why?!
What happened?
Omkar tried real hard to understand what was going on around him. Looking at his troubled expression Jahnavi reluctantly replied,
We were attacked.
There was gunfire, an attempt to murder, an underworld war and a blast.
However we managed to escape alive.
You were unconscious due to heavy loss of blood and too much drinking however the doctor has said that you will recover completely within a few weeks.
Then it hit him… And it hit him real hard…
All of it flashed instantly…
The Party…
The Drinks…
The Fight…
The Gunfire…
The Blast…
And Triambika…
Triambika was the girl whom Omkar had loved throughout his life right from his childhood days.
Reason to Live
The one whom you truly love is the most precious person in this world for you. For whom you can give up anything and everything… The fear of losing such a person is far scarier than the fear of losing your own life.
Omkar was terrified and started screaming as he recollected the events.
Where is Triambika?!
How is she?!
Is she even alive?!
I need to know!!
Tell me!!
Fear is a great motivator. Fear of losing your true love is the greatest of all fears. This fear of losing Triambika gave Omkar so much strength that he got up from his bed and tried to remove the needles and pins attached to his hands…
Jahnavi standing there, as beautiful as ever, got worried and shouted at him,
Omkar! Please! Calm down!
What the hell are you doing?!!
The saline stand fell down, Omkar felt a bad pain in his hand. Blood started oozing from his hand and entering the saline bottle…
Jahnavi got afraid and shrieked,
Help! Help!
Hearing her frantic shouts and cries a few nurses and doctors came running to the room.
The doctors shouted at him,
Mr. Omkar please control yourself.
You need to calm down, your body needs rest!
Please do not torture your body, you have already suffered terrible pain.
Physical pain is temporary, however the pain that love gives you is permanent. Omkar’s heart was so used to torture that his bodily torture almost did not feel anything.
The doctors called for a few ward boys to catch hold of him and were about to give a sedative to make him unconscious again when entered Dev! His best friend, his childhood friend…
Seeing the doctors trying to overpower Omkar, Dev strong as a bull pulled all the people and literally threw them around… He made the doctor remove the needles and pins from Omkar’s hands and seal them up with bandages as quickly as possible.
A good friend is said to be someone who knows your stories whereas a best friend is someone who has lived them with you.
Which is why Dev knew that Omkar just had to see Triambika!
Jahnavi was crying, Dev consoled her too…
Omkar stood up using all his strength and hugged him. Dev said,
Brother, Triambika’s condition is bad!
Doctors are doing their best to save her!
But there is no guarantee.
Omkar asked,
Where is she?
Dev replied,
She is in room number 304, 3rd floor.
Let me get a wheelchair for you.
Omkar said,
No Bro… I don’t need a wheel chair!
If she is not surviving today, I too am not.
Triambika was Omkar’s reason to live, the reason for him to want and need to live.
His reason to smile
His reason to breathe
His reason to love
His reason to live
And if needed his reason to die.
In heart, if not in Life
Present…
The heavy painkillers and sedatives Omkar was on had made him numb. He was feeling weak due to the heavy loss of blood and was almost on the verge of being unconscious but he had to see Triambika. Dev supported him, and both of them entered the lift. That was when Omkar saw himself in the mirror. Body, head and hands bandaged, he was weak, struggling to stand up, with Dev supporting him. They had come together in one frame, after so many years. The last time, Omkar remembered, was more than nine years back…
That night was incredible, for the first time in so many years there were not one but two supermodels crowned in their city yearly fashion show.
Both Omkar and Dev had been modelling as a dedicated hobby for a couple of years and had become very famous in their city. Their city Pune was well known for huge number of colleges be it engineering or medical or commerce or arts or law, you name it. And fashion and dance shows used to happen at least once a month. The numerous clothes designers, jewelleries, fashion institutes and other businesses found it a great way for publicity to capture the young college crowd. Famous actors and actresses were always invited as guests and judges to the shows that took place.
Though Omkar was an engineering student and Dev a commerce student both had been friends from school and were always together. They used to drink, smoke, workout, go on trips, adventures and other activities always together.
A friend is said to be someone who knows and understands your past, believes in your future and accepts you today just the way you are. Dev was one such friend of Omkar and the best of them all.
One of the few things they had not done together was to compete on the ramp. Now modelling was something which both were passionate about as a hobby. Both had done more than a dozen shows. Both had won almost all the major titles in their city fashion shows till date. The Supermodel was the only title that had to be won.
There had come a point when they did not even need to give auditions for the shows, their popularity had increased so much that the organizers themselves used to call them up and request them to participate. Other contestants used to literally shudder on knowing that either of them would be participating. Some used to feel proud to step on the same ramp with them, some used to feel jealous.
Their popularity was such that guys used to impress their girlfriends by claiming that either or both of them were their friends.
They were the most dashing, the most handsome, and the coolest of all guys ever to set foot on the soil of the city from where they came.
Before the show Omkar had gone to Dev and said,
Big Bro… it won’t matter who wins or does not win tonight… of course as long as one of us wins… best of luck…
Dev had hugged him and replied,
I will win… because I feel you will win and your winning means me winning… best of luck.
Winning and losing are a part of life. You should always remember that your success is hidden in your friend’s success. You should be equally happy with your friend winning as much as your own. There should never be any room for jealousy.
It was a huge event… a mega show… for the whole night, round after round the crowd was chanting only their names… Omkar! Omkar!
Dev! Dev!
It was as if only the two of them were on the ramp and no one else!
And then the result was declared… Both had won the most important title they had always dreamt of till that time. Both had become
