Learning from the mistakes of others and keeping the teachings received in your heart are synonymous with intelligence. Having grown up in church I have seen all sorts of things and in my life I have decided not to make the same mistakes as others. The goal of this book is to share with you some of the principles that have allowed the church I am part of to be a reference of faith, of anointing, of holiness, and to be a church that literally scares the devil. Over the years we have discovered some things that really matter and that guarantee the possibility of being blessed and being able to bless others. It's not about numbers and spectacularity, good fame is achieved only if you have solid foundations. Today, with the technology available, anyone can become famous and have a large following, so the question is not "how to become famous?", but "how to make God make you famous?". By His grace we have gone through many crises and emerged victorious. Now, some of the fundamental principles that underlie this wonderful ministry are available to you. I wish with all my heart that you too have all the tools for your ministry to grow in such a way as to be a point of reference and a blessing for many.

Preface

We’ve been working alongside Pastor Fabio for more than fifteen years, and we’ve been his pastors since about the day he was born.

We were happily surprised to see how he was able to summarize a whole life’s intense work in the house of God in the chapters of this book. The subject of leadership is of utmost importance today both in the academic and business arena. Much is invested in the preparation of new leaders and in the perfecting of the current staff, because we see that today’s world recession is born out of a deficit of good leaders.

The content of this book isn’t the fruit of theoretic research in the library, or from a great harvest of observations from other books, although that isn’t necessarily bad. The principles in this book, sufficiently studied, are the fruit of a life that has lived them, experienced them, and have been put to the test in the daily service of the local church.

Although Pastor Fabio’s emphasis is on leadership in the church’s music ministry, these master keys will open the doors to success in any area where there is need of people to be properly trained in order to lead other people.

We’re happy that Pastor Fabio was so crystal clear regarding his convictions for Christ. Courage is needed nowadays to maintain clear-cut beliefs regarding certain subjects. The prevailing tendency today is to adopt a sort of tolerance that compromises the quality and the biblical requirements that allow a leader to be approved by the Lord.

In all actuality, this is not an easy book to read, but knowing the life and testimony of Pastor Fabio and his wife, we can guarantee that what he has written is what they live out in their ministry. Here you will find content that is faithful to the message of Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION

The Concept of Success

If God has called you to something that means He has already prepared everything that you need to experience success in this endeavor. Success is nothing more than accomplishing a goal – its fulfillment and completion. What is your standard for identifying success or failure for a worship minister? What are those elements that lead you towards success in your worship ministry? How can you cause your worship ministry to rise up out of failure? The answers to these questions are exactly what you will find in this book.

Success is connected to purpose. If the road you’re traveling will bring you to fulfill the purpose of your ministry, then you can consider yourself a person of success. That means that success has nothing to do with chance or luck – success is caused or constructed by putting into practice a series of principles. In our case, we can say that a successful worship ministry is not the result of how much we pray or fast or how many tears we shed, but rather the direct and automatic result of putting into practice biblical principles. This is the reason we can confirm that success doesn’t manifest only at the end, when we reach the completion of our goal, but rather it manifests every day. Every day you are able to walk in victory, you can say, I took one more step towards my goal. Every day you have the opportunity to practice the principles found in the Word; therefore, claim in the spiritual world what belongs to you. Every day can be a day of success in your ministry!

The purpose of this book is not to give you some sort of motivational speech. I don’t want to give you my version of certain truths. Rather, I will share with you 11 keys that will allow you, or the ministry that you are involved in, to run towards success. My aim is not to take you by the hand and tell you what you must do – as if this book were a tutorial. My desire instead is to open your eyes to allow you to see that there are many things that are necessary for you to do to reach the mission that you were created for and to fulfill the ministry entrusted to you by God. There is a road you must walk day after day until you have completed the mission that the Holy Spirit has given you, and for this there exists a condition – a status quo – that you must have and that will allow you to receive from God all that you need – and all that He has prepared – for your success. My goal is to help you to understand that the application of the principles outlined in this book will make a way for God to move His hand in your favor. When you’ll use the keys that the Lord will give you, you will set in motion favor in the spiritual world and there won’t be a door that can remain closed for you.

In the past years, we’ve witnessed a progressive increase in the inability of Christians to recognize the Holy Spirit. Churches, services, preaching of the Word and praise and worship are operating more and more based solely on the direction of individuals instead of the direction of the Lord. We see less and less churches that preach messages that build, equip, and challenge the believer – instead we see many churches that preach messages that only evoke emotional responses. The result is churches and believers that act like they have broken compasses – they walk and walk and walk without ever fulfilling the will of God for their lives. Many principles have been forgotten or considered obsolete, criticized, or abandoned. Today there are churches, ministries, and ministers without solid foundations upon which they can build a proper spiritual life. There are also believers that eat the fruit of a watered-down Gospel and people that confuse emotional excitement with the anointing. Furthermore are children of God that draw near to the Father to praise and worship Him in word and action, but they have their hearts turned toward other things.

The principles that you will find in this book are not principles easily digested, particularly because they can be difficult to accept, as they are contrary to the desires of the flesh. Every time you desire to experience success in an area, you will have to consider the possibility that before reaching that success there will be a time of preparation. During this time, fleshly beliefs and desires will be confronted by the Word of God and corrected by your Heavenly Father. God desires to sow in you His intelligence and His wisdom so that you can efficiently expand His Kingdom on the earth. This is the success that He has destined for you!

Failure is the opposite of success. We fail when we don’t fulfill a goal or a project. We also fail when one of our ideas or concepts is determined wrong or obsolete. For many, failure is the final desitination, but for others it is an opportunity to learn something and grow. During these times of failing, the Lord will restore all that was stolen by the enemy, to those who practically implement His Word. Don’t hold onto a spirit of frustration or discouragement, but instead seize wisdom by putting into practice what God wants to teach you.

Our sources

The principles that you will find written in this book shouldn’t be considered a formula that, if put into practice, will guarantee your success. Absolutely not! As you will find well-detailed in Chapter 1, the principles form the foundation on which you will build your ministry. My great desire is to furnish you with the correct principles that will surely bring strength to your foundation. These same principles will become the source of your ideas and actions. Everything is born from there; the things that you have determined as the foundation for your life.

I’m often perplexed by the quality of the sources of many worship leaders; specifically, by the quality of spiritual food they ingest. Your spiritual food will be the principles that you establish as a foundation. I’m worried about the level of real and practical understanding of principles such as living in holiness, walking in the anointing, and recognizing the presence of God. I’m also worried by the fact that many worship leaders and worship ministries don’t place themselves in positions that allow them to further their knowledge, transform their minds, and refresh themselves spiritually.

The purpose of this book is exactly this – to put yourself in the position to receive from the Holy Spirit all the spiritual updates you need. Often, so as not to stray from the central theme, I won’t stop to explain a principle in detail – but I will simply give you a truth and leave you the responsibility to expound upon that truth with the help of the Holy Spirit.

All that we know today regarding the praise and worship ministry is based often on the principles that the Holy Spirit revealed to the church from around the early 900’s, after centuries of darkness that the church experienced. The development and alteration – terms that must be understood in a positive sense – of the worship ministry always accompanies the increase in theological revelation that the Holy Spirit gives to the church. This revelation underwent an important and noteworthy change in the last few decades, influencing also the vision of the church regarding worship music. In particular, in the last twenty years praise and worship in the churches across the world has undergone radical transformations, to say the least. Considering this continual development, it’s essential to keep the church always informed regarding the principles that support the changes brought on by the Holy Spirit as it refers to praise and worship in His church.

Battling for spiritual territory

All ministries, including praise and worship ministries, pose a great threat for the enemy because they are ministries of the church of Christ specifically established to expand the Kingdom of God on the earth and to destroy the works of the enemy. This is the reason why you and I are a threat for the devil. He is afraid of your spiritual growth and will fight with all of his power to prevent you from growing in the knowledge of your spiritual rights, your authority, and you enlarging your spiritual territory.

That’s the truth! There is spiritual territory to conquer. This is what should happen when you exercise your role as minister. Establishing the Kingdom of God in a place doesn’t happen in a day; for some things it can take weeks, for others months, and for others years. God had prepared Israel for exactly this principle. He had told them that it would take years to conquer the land that had been promised to them. Israel’s ministry was to conquer a piece of land on the earth and manifest the Government of God there in that place.

It’s crazy to believe that the fulfillment of the worship ministry – and the principle goes for any ministry – takes place when you pick up an instrument and start playing, for example. That’s not even the beginning… You need to spend time to understand what the territory is that the Lord is asking you to conquer. After that, you must begin to walk, by the leading of the Holy Spirit, to conquer
