Prayer Begins with Relationship - Cynthia Bezek
This is not just another study on prayer. It is an invitation to join a Conversation—one many believers have been feeling left out of for far too long. Cynthia’s transparency, biblical insight, and encouragement will help anyone who applies these principles experience a whole new level and quality of relationship with their heavenly Father/Friend.
— Arlyn Lawrence, coauthor of Prayer-Saturated Kids; editor of PrayKids! Teacher’s Guide: A Hands-On Guide for Developing Kids Who Pray
We need help to know how to pray, and here’s a guide that can give us just that! This easy and wonderful book with practical suggestions will help us learn how to talk with God. I’m so very grateful for this much-needed resource. You will be too!
— Stephen W. Smith, founder, Potter’s Inn; author of The Lazarus Life and Soul Custody
"As a prayer leader, I am often invited to review and recommend new books on prayer. However, when I read Prayer Begins with Relationship, I realized I did not want to recommend it to you as a book to read—instead, I highly recommend that you journey it and invite others to travel with you. Prayer Begins with Relationship is not meant to merely be read word after word, beginning to end. Interruptions and pauses are required! Cynthia offers us a learning experience best achieved in, no surprise, relationship—in relationship with God and also with others seeking to deepen their relationships with Him. The combination of Cynthia’s insights and the tasks of study, discussion, and actual praying make this a new and useful tool for people hungry for the taste of real-life prayer."
— Phil Miglioratti, community manager, Pray! Network;founder, National Pastors’ Prayer Network

Introduction
PRAYER DID NOT COME naturally for me, and my efforts at it often left me feeling frustrated and inadequate. Even now I don’t consider myself a prayer giant by any means.
Then why is she writing a small-group study on prayer? you might wonder.
I’m writing because my struggles in prayer are more typical than not among believers. However, few of us like to talk about our disappointing experiences. We’re embarrassed that we don’t enjoy praying and don’t do it more. We wish prayer were a want to,
but it’s a supposed to.
However, now I truly do enjoy talking with God—a lot! Talking with Him is engaging, meaningful, even fun.
I think the reason God lets me share about prayer with you is because I can be an empathetic friend who understands the struggles. But I can also tell you that the more
you’ve been wanting in prayer is possible. And it doesn’t come through reading more books, trying harder, or being more disciplined; it comes through understanding what prayer really is—and knowing who God really is.
God has given me many breakthroughs during this ongoing prayer journey He and I have been on. But the single most important discovery—the realization that has changed my prayers forever—is that prayer is relationship. Prayer is inherently a relational
