    Chapter One

The first rays of the sun lit the dawn of a new day. Bob Randolph was getting ready to leave his home in the quaint city of Easter Arizona. It was a normal day, like any other day as Bob leaves home headed for his small convenience store on the outskirts of Easter. Bob left his big city life thirty years ago, he purchased and restored an old gas station his real estate agent found. His transformation of the old station was a booming little business. Bobs store was the last place to get gas, food or snacks before leaving Arizona and driving into Nevada.

The next convenience stores or gas station was eighty-five miles. Bob pulled into his store as usual around 8:50 am. He noticed a pile of clothes laying by the ice coolers. Bob walks over, pulls back the coat to reveal a young woman. It startled Bob, he jumped. Bob felt the young woman’s face she was warm. Bob checked for a pulse, she had one. Bob began to shake her, but to no avail Bob couldn’t wake the young woman.

Bob thought she was drunk or high on drugs, he shook her somewhat harder and tried to wake her. On his third attempt Bob shook the young woman vigorously, she slowly opened her eyes and began to moan. Bob said, Ms. are you all right? she continued to moan. Bob left the young woman, opened the store, turned the building lights on then turned off the burglar alarm. He propped the doors open, went back to the young woman, picked her up. The young woman began to scream and thrash about, she started pleading, crying then sad, No, no, not again God no!

Bob tried to soothe the young woman’s fears long enough to get her into the store. After he got her into the store he sat her down in a char beside the counter, Bob told the young woman, Ms. I am going to get you some water. Bob walked to the cooler, he removed a bottle of cold water then opened it when he got back to the young woman. She was so weak she couldn’t raise her hand to take the water. Bob assisted her so she could drink little water, she barley drank then began to cry again. After a few more sips she began to gain a little strength.

She was able to hold the water bottle on her own. Bob made this comment, That must have been some party! the young woman began to cry again uncontrollably and said, I wasn’t at a party, I have been raped! and asked, Where am I, still crying. Bob told her she was in Easter Arizona. The young woman began crying uncontrollably again. Bob called the Easter Police department and told them of the situation he had.

Bob told the young lady that the police would be here in a little bit. Bob locked the doors to the business and kept the Closed sign up on the door. He asked the young woman her name, she told him her name was, Lorie Turner. Lorie was starting to calm herself a bit she starting to gain more strength. Bob offered the young lady something to eat, she just shook her head no. Bob went to the cooler and got out a couple of sausage biscuits, he put them in the microwave to heat.

The aroma of the heated biscuits and sausage fill the air, and the young lady looked at the microwave oven then back at Bob. He said, They will be ready in a few minutes. Bob smiled back at her. The timer on the microwave rang, Bob snagged a paper plate, put the two sausage and biscuits on the paper plate then handed to the biscuits to the young woman. Lorie began to eat like a starved animal. Bob said to her, Easy now Ms. you’ll choke yourself the young lady kept eating ravenously.

Just as Lorie finished her second biscuit, the first Police car pulled in front of the door, Bob walked to the door, opened it for the officer. I was Officer Randy Storm. Randy walked in greeted Bob. Bob returned the greeting. Bob just shook his head as Randy stooped down in front of the young woman. He introduced him self then asked her name. She told the officer her name. Randy asked if she was ok, Lorie said, No I have been repeatedly raped!

Randy’s next question was, Where are you from? Lorie said, Lincoln Texas. She said, I work at Davis Brother Super Store in Lincoln. The second patrol car pulled arrived. The shift Supervisor Lt. Dan Christopher. Dan greeted Bob as he approached Randy and the young lady. Randy briefed his Lieutenant on the situation thus far. Lt. Christopher said, I'll call for an ambulance to transport Lorie to the hospital.

Dan called for the ambulance he also notified the Detective Division, to request a Detective meet them at the hospital. Five minutes later an Easter County Ambulance arrived, the EMT began assessing Lories condition, he asked Lorie a series of questions. After contacting the hospital, the EMT crew placed Lorie on the gurney, wheeled her out to the ambulance, they started their journey to Ramden Medical Center. The two officers thanked Bob for his assistance, then left behind the ambulance. It was about a seven-minute trip to Ramden Medical ER. The Ambulance stopped at the emergency entrance then unloaded Lorie.

The officers followed the paramedics into a room where Lorie would be examined. The ER nurse told the officers they had about ten minutes before the Doctor came in to examine and asses Lories condition. Randy used the time to finish his initial investigation and questioning. Randy was just finishing up when Dr. Ed Wallace came in to make a cursory examine on Lorie. After assessing her condition, taking blood and vital signs, he let the officers return to Lories room.

Detective Sargent Dana Ashbury arrived at the hospital and made her way to exam room where she found the two officers and Lorie. She greeted Dan and Randy then introduced herself to Lorie. Detective Ashbury inquired about her rape exam, Randy advised Dana they were waiting on her to show up before it was conducted. Dr. Wallace saw Dana come in, he proceeded to the exam room. He greeted Dana and said, You ready to get started? Dana replied, Yes Doc. Dana explained to Lorie what tests were going to be performed on her and why they needed to be performed in a rape cases.

The Hospital had a room set aside for officers to wait and do reports while examinations were being conducted. Randy and Dan went down to the Police room. Randy started filling out his initial report. While Dana and Dr. Wallace performed the rape kit and test on Lorie. As with any Police departments the City of Easter was using laptop computers to do they’re reports. It only took about thirty minutes to fill out the initial report on Lories case. Randy had uploaded the finished report when Detective Ashbury came into the Police room.

Randy told her the report had been uploaded. The case number on the Police computers server, that she could access the report any time she needed to review his report. Detective Ashbury thanked the officers for the assistance and the help. Dan and Randy left the hospital, then returned to their active duties. Dana knew it would be a few days before any of the test results would be back and she needed to review the reports. Dr. Wallace said, the were going to keep Lorie for a few days. Run more tests, he also requested Easter PD contact Lorie's family.

So Dana made one more trip to see Lorie. Dana told Lorie she would be back later to check on her and talk some more. Dana said, Dr. Wallace want you to rest and they’re going to take good care of you, make you feel as comfortable as possible. Lorie began to cry again, thanked Dana for all the help. Dana said, I will be back shortly, I have to go to the office. Lorie continued to cry even more, Dana asked, What is the matter Lorie? Lorie replied, I am scared to be alone! So Dana said, No problem, I will not leave you by yourself ok! Lorie nodded her approval.

Dana told Lorie she had to go to her patrol car to get her laptop, that she would be right back, Lories tears began to subside. Dana went to her car fetched her backpack that held her laptop, her tape recorder and her paperwork. When Dana returned to the ER, they were taking Lorie out of the exam room transporting to a hospital room. Dana followed them to Lories new private room. The transport team transferred Lorie from the ER gurney to her hospital bed. Lorie began to get accustom to her new surroundings. Dana retrieved her laptop and recorder from her back pack.

The charge nurse came in gave Lorie a mild sedative in her IV drip. When the sedative started taking effect, Lorie began to moan then whimpered, Oh no not again! was the last words that Dana heard form Lorie before she fell off to sleep. Dana plugged in her lap top turned it on. The hospital had a secure Wi-Fi connection that Dana used it to access the Easter Police Departments secure server and read the initial report Randy had written.

Case number 002658. Randy Storm Reporting Officer, Date August 20, 2012. I was dispatched to Bob’s Last Stop Convenience store on Hwy 77, in Easter Arizona on a possible rape victim. Upon arrival I spoke with the victim Lorie Turner, Ms. Turner advised me that she had been raped and didn’t know how she got to the store. While questioning Ms. Turner, Lt. Dan Christopher arrived, I gave Lt. Christopher a quick synopsis of the situation, advising that Ms. Turner was not able to walk. Lt. Christopher called for the ambulance, along with a Detective to meet us at Ramden Medical Center in Easter. I asked Ms. Turner where she was from, she told me Lincoln Texas, she was leaving work at Davis Brothers Super Store in Lincoln where she was a cashier. Ms. Turner stated that she was abducted from the stores employee parking area. Ms. Turner said that she was at work on July the 18th, that is the last day she remembers. Ms. Turner also advises that she was in an unknown location and had been sexually assaulted on multiple occasions. She stated that she was kept in a dimly lit room. No windows so she did not know where she had been held. Ms. Turner is a W/F, 22 years of age, about 5’2" tall, Sandy Brown Hair, Blue Eyes and weighs about 100 lbs. Ms. Turner did not or could not produce any ID, that could confirm her identity, all Ms. Turner was wearing was a pair of faded blue jeans and a green tee-shirt with the Davis Brothers Super Store logo on it, a pair of white tennis shoes and a large green coat. All of the items mentioned were collected and placed into plastic evidence bags at the hospital, sealed, signed, initialed and placed into Easter Police Department paper evidence bag which was also sealed, signed, and initialed. I will be placing the bag into the evidence room at the Easter Police Department forensic lab for examination. By Officer Randy Storm. I will update the time on the the report when I have submitted the evidence bag to the lab. The investigation was turned over to Detective Sargent Dana Ashbury upon her arrival to Ramden Medical Center ER. I left the hospital in route to turn in the evidence bag at Easter Police Department Forensic Lab.

After reading the initial report, Dana reached into her back pack retrieved a small note book, and a pen. Opened the note book recorded some notes from the report.

Next she ran a search for missing persons on Lorie Turner. She found a hit from Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department in Lincoln Texas about Ms. Turner. There was a flier attached to the report. The picture and description matched her victim. Dana used her cell phone to called the Lincoln Sheriff’s Department, she asked for Detective Mark Shields who was in charge of the case.

When he answered she stated that she was Detective Sargent Dana Ashbury from the Easter Police Department in Easter Arizona, that they had found Lorie Turner. Det. Shields was shocked at first, then said, I am really glad to hear that news. I was so worried that we might have a homicide on our hands. Det. Shields asked again where she was calling from, Dana said, Easter Arizona, it is a small town on the Arizona Nevada Boarder. Det. Shields said, Holy SHIT! Dana said, What? Mark replied, Sorry for that, our County is about 80 miles North of Amarillo Texas. Easter is about 600 miles away from Lincoln!

Then Dana replied, Damn, your right! Dana went on to explain the facts of her case, what evidence she had so far. Dana explained further that the Hospital was going to keep Lorie for a few days, run more tests on her. Mark told Dana, I will notify her family that she has been found, also I will get with my supervisor and make arrangements to come to Easter. Dana said, Thanks The two exchanged phone numbers then hung up. While Dana was making notes she could hear whimpering and moaning from Lorie.

Without a warning Lorie sat upright in her bed and begin to scream at the top of her lungs, Dana about jumped out of her skin the scream startled her so bad. The door to Lories room burst open, the Charge Nurse along with another nurse came in then said what is going on? Dana explained, I heard her whimper and moan and then all of a sudden she sat straight up and began screaming! after a few minutes of screaming Lorie just dropped back in her bed sound asleep. Dana told the Charge Nurse, She scared the SHIT out of me!

The Charge Nurse said, This poor child must have been terribly traumatized! Dana made a note of the incident in her note book. An hour after the incident Dana’s cell phone rang, Detective Ashbury The voice on the other end of the phone said in a shaken voice, Detective Ashbury! This is Adam Turner, Lorie’s father. Dana replied, Yes Mr. Turner! Mr. Turner asked, Is my daughter ok and alive? Dana, Yes sir she is alive, but hospitalized right now. She was found this morning at a convenience store here in Easter Arizona. Mr. Turner replied, OH THANK GOD! In a relieved voice.

Mr. Turner said, We are making arrangements to fly to Easter now. We will be there late tonight, then come by the hospital as soon as we land! Dana told Mr. Turner, "Sir she has been sedated, I need to talk to her as soon as she wakes up! I’m sorry, but I can't let anyone see her
