About this ebook

Contemporary Erotic Romance about two broken people coming together and fixing each other's painful pasts. A story of heartbreak and complications to find love in an unlikely situation. Written in the voices of Lenka and Malcom as it takes place in sunny South Africa.
When they say it's not always sunshine in paradise, they mean it. When Lenka and Malcom finally seem to catch a break from the ever-present demons and a new surprise follows their return home, it becomes a blissful life. But when Malcom discovers something worrying, he keeps it from Lenka and soon the demons rise again.
Malcom's agreements become headline news and all the women he trained are brought into the spotlight. Lenka loses all her credibility just when she has learned that she deserved the name she made for herself. Family and friends are left with contradicting reactions toward Lenka and Malcom's relationship's origin and Lenka struggles to handle it.
One terrible turn for the worst, takes them to a place where Lenka knows she has to use her past's pain to get through it all as Jeffrey's evilness takes on a new form. The one thing they know this time is that for Lenka to be saved, Malcom must become the man he promised to never be again.

Note from Chevoque:
This book (and series) wasn't written according to the 'Erotic Romance novel formula', it is complete smut according to most of the feedback I've received. So don't consider this if more than ten sex scenes will totally freak you out. (Yes, there is a ton of them...the actually number you'll need to find out for yourself) Before you run though, this book's theme is about how sex can free you from your demons. The purpose with Sparks and Sparrows was not to make the sex redundant, just because I wanted to. I wanted to give the readers enough sex scenes as I, as a reader, sometimes feel they lack in Erotic Romance novels, and in this series they actually have an important purpose. Sex is beautiful and how you perceive it, is just a person's personal view. Also, as most people I know - myself included - like to read only a few chapters an evening before going to bed, the idea was to have a developing storyline, while still having AT LEAST ONE sex scene (grownup bedtime story) per chapter. Honest opinions and reviews are still welcome; this is just here to give a honest insight of the book, before you consider it.

    Dear Reader,

I thank you for coming along the journey of Spark and Sparrows.

What was initially only supposed to be one book quickly became a duology, as you guys requested more, and this final book was definitely needed. I hope you enjoy it very much, as we bring Malcom and Lenka's story to an end, but as you'll see, it draws to a suiting conclusion I truly believe in.

As ever, the playlist is on my YouTube channel and I hope you enjoy it as well. (Note: There are songs that don't fit into the 'realistic' timeline and was in fact released a few months later, but had fit too perfectly to not keep in place. As this is fiction, let's imagine it was released, or just completely forget about reality).

    Prologue

Fuck! I think as I pace the hallway for the hundredth time, still anxious, as no change has taken place in the last few minutes. How did this happen? Inwardly, I cuss myself for even asking such a dumb question. I walk to the bulletin board and read the poster on hypertension.

Two nurses run pass me and head into the room that I had been chased out of nearly an hour earlier. I stare at them, trying to see if their expressions might reveal anything that may help me figure out what is going on. But, nothing shows in their trained impassiveness. Fucking cunts! That is the love of my life! I feel my fingers digging deeper into my palms, as my fists tense.

A nurse steps out of the room and blood covers her uniform, but her smile is even less of an encouragement, as she sees my desperate eyes. We need B positive for a transfusion, she tells the nurse at the station and the second nurse immediately picks up the phone receiver and calls the blood bank. The exhausted nurse faces me, She has lost a lot of blood, but she will be fine. I have had enough of the waiting, so I step pass her, Mr. Clifton! You have to calm down, she snaps and blocks the door. She gives me a stern look, then heads back into the room. Could the nurse honestly think it possible, after she just requested blood for my wife...

Mr. Roberts comes half running down the hallway; he looks worse than I feel, Malcom, what is going on? I only manage to shrug my shoulders, as I honestly have no idea what is actually happening inside the room. Mrs. Roberts joins us in the hallway, she gives me a kiss and as she wants to ask, the doctor steps out of the room.

Is she okay? What is going on? I blurt out before anyone can speak.

The doctor's expression is not what anyone wants to see in a hospital, I'm sorry, Mr. Clifton, but... the doctor takes a breath.

That fucking woman screwed up everything!

    Chapter One

    Sparrows

I stepped out of the ensuite and Asha was still lying on the bed, drinking champagne, straight from the bottle she had grabbed on our way to the master suite. Her long black hair formed what could only be described as a curtain, around her pretty button face. I opened my mouth, wanting to tell her what the results were, but with a pantomiming finger, she showed me to wait. The gulp seemed endless, but finally she brought the bottle down, rubbed away a drop on her lip and mockingly showed the bottle my way.

So... Her tone carried a pinch of mockery on the side of 'Oh, H-Balls' when it began sinking in. She seemed mildly inebriated, while wearing her damn Cheshire smile like the cat himself, as the lights from above gave her skin that beautifully healthy shine. I chewed on the inside of my cheek and the tacenda transferred a great deal more than it should have. Asha began to bark with laughter, making my poor albino German Shepherd raise her head with a slight tilt and then a bark of her own. Thanks, Selina. Great backup!

Stop it, Ash, I bit out and she took a breath. Selina laid her head back down into the gap between the doggie bed casing and the cushioning, and sighed. I bet she was thinking, 'My crazy lady is stupid and her friend is weird, but both give nice treats.' But that wasn't too far from the truth anyway and I did feel a little mental at the moment.

Asha rose from the bed, clumsily found her feet and looked at me with a smirk. You know it is kinda funny, she chuckled, but according to biology...which we both are well familiar with... - her hands began to gesture her formulation - ...being scientists and all. I glowered at her and I swore I saw the curtains catch fire from it. Ha-ha, Lenka...what anatomy doesn't teach is that chemistry, physiology or even psychology, whichever you prefer...

Don't, I shook my head, knowing where this was heading. This was Asha, this was about sex and this was going to hurt.

Her finger shushed me, When a man loves a woman, or a man loves a man, or a woman loves a woman. Well, you get my point...we as animals react to the chemistry.

    Ash, I-

The point I am trying to make is that when you are in a straight relationship, this shit happens, and, her smile turned sweet, I'm ecstatic for you! Her arms gripped me into a tight embrace. I still didn't know how to feel; I had just turned twenty-five, had just begun my doctor's degree and had barely been married. Come now, she began pulling my hand and walked to the door, We need to return before anyone comes up here. I'm sure you want this to be kept quiet for a while.

I nodded my head and stumbled after her down the stairs. Selina's nails softly clicked on the tiles in the dining room, as she followed us outside and back to my birthday party. Asha (champagne bottle in hand) headed straight to John's side. They were quite a couple; her dark complexion contrasted his pale skin so perfectly, under the soft light provided by the tiki torches and moon that they looked like a piece of sinful art.

I was left on my own, as Selina padded away, through the crowd of nearly fifty people in the garden. Malcom knew very well I wasn't one for big parties, but once Lucinda, his dear mother, caught grip on an idea it was hard to refuse her kind eyes. Think of the devil, Lucinda was heading in my direction, more like the angel, but same diffs. I was in a tiny version of my own hell, created by her and I wasn't fond of it one bit.

The garden was beautifully decorated with what could only be described as a fae island theme. The plants hid numerous small lights in all the colours of the rainbow and it was mythical to say the least. The stage held ivies, draped to give a forest feel and the tables had the same designs.

What was slightly pushing it was my dress. I didn't look like a kid in a fairytale costume, but the dress's collar held elaborate, spiky designs, while the hem had pointy, feathery ends which came up to my knees. Even though it was green and it did feel a titbit like Tinker Bell's dress, the lace was a dead giveaway that I was no child - considering the other lace pieces beneath the dress as well.

Lenka honey, where have you been? Malcom said you had disappeared with Asha, but she was snogging John with a champagne bottle between them, Lucinda softly chuckled. Her dark hair was shorter than when I had met her and the blunt lob cut, made the already attractive woman even more eye-catching. Vincent, your hot wife is a damn MILF! Maybe GILF soon...shit!

She helped me with my dress, a soft panic flashed in her navy blue eyes, the...uhm...ends just twisted together. No big deal. She calmed at the comment, then interlaced her arm with mine and led me toward the main event. My flat pumps was a much better option than heels, as I saw some of the guests sink away as they stood on the lawn.

You look like you're glowing, Lucinda said. Aggg, fuck. I managed a tiny smile, as she guided us to my parents for a photo.

My dad induced his legendary bear hug and I nearly huffed, as the wind was pushed out of my lungs. You look beautiful, my little sparrow, his smile was as shiny as his bald head when he looked me in the eyes.

Let go, my mum pushed in between us and gave me her version of a deadly hug. The woman was damn strong and with her hair - now a bright red - I was surprised it hadn't begun thinning from all the tinting. Oh, you look lovely! She broke the embrace and stared at me a bit more apologetic, Sorry we are late, but the traffic was awful.

I caught my dad shaking his and pointing to my mum. I smiled a little brighter, It's not a problem, mum. At least you are safely here. With all the road works being done between here and Klerksdorp, I'm surprised you made it at all. Where's Netta?

My dad took me by my shoulders and turned me around. There in the pool, with Selina, the two were swimming, while Netta's rolleys - her hind leg assistors as my dad had put it - stood next to the swimming pool. Netta was a fat little lab on a diet, but she was adorably sweet with her expressions and paired with Selina, the two were little deviants of distraction.

Come, let's take the photo. Lucinda huddled me and my parents in front of a backdrop that functioned as decoration. The depiction was a fairy sitting on her heels and dark gray and blue meshed with green to form a stunning piece of art. A student from the university had painted it and had apparently gotten one hell of a pay check.

The photo was taken and as I stood uncertain over what to do next, and as Malcom came closer to greet my parents, I awkwardly stalked away to the bar area. Obviously trying to avoid him, because conversation starters like, 'Sparks, I'm pregnant', wasn't at all what I had imagined billionaires wanted to hear when they had just gotten married. I stood contemplating what I wanted to drink, when I needed tequila, but couldn't drink alcohol. Damn! I already hate being pregnant. I wasn't much of a drinker, but now when I needed it, it wasn't allowed. Wasn't there something about a tiny glass of-

Sparrow? Malcom's seductive siren sing near my ear, made warmth flood my abdomen and the parts south, as the bartender asked me what I wanted to drink for the third time.

Uhm, just give me some ice tea, I turned and faced Malcom. His beautifully witty smile crossed his lips and I combusted. Yeah, my husband is a looker. Central heterochromia eyes of green in the middle - beating any grassland's beauty - and azure blue on the outside - challenging the clear African skies - paired with lips so delicious...Focus. Hallo, sparks.

He leaned in and gave me a sweet kiss, but I didn't nip his lip as I usually do. This was a critical situation. His hand just grazing past my breast, made me heave, You look flustered. What's going on? Did Asha have a pregnancy scare again? Oh, fuck. Just smile and wave like those funny penguins.

Uhm... He scowled at me and his damn perfect dark brown hair, now just a little longer, was even wafting in the soft breeze. Well, you see. I was-

Lenka honey! Lucinda called for me and there was clearly something I needed to be assisting with for the party, so I dashed away like The Road Runner, but tripped a little over my own feet.

I'll be right back, I quickly said, over my shoulder and caught Malcom's glare turning completely suspicious.

I can't quite tell what is up with Lenka, as her short legs move into my mother's direction, faster than Bryan Habana could ever wish to. She usually tries avoiding my mother's nagging over parties, but this seems almost too eager. I surmise she is a bit stressed, but her eyes are showing that neediness to talk to me that comes to life whenever she is fretting.

I remember the last time they seemed this eager to tell me something, was when I finally accepted I love her and also when she needed to tell me of what Jeffrey had done to her that made the rape even worse. Suddenly, my blood boils a few degrees too high, Calm and steady. Control it. I decide to go with the good; It is over and she is mine now, I try to focus my mind away from the past.

I still can't shake the feeling that something big is happening or going to, and I know I need Lenka to tell me. I'll make her tell me by screwing her senseless, then she'll speak; she always does after we-

Malcom, Themba's cheery voice comes alive behind me. I give him a handshake that ends with a shoulder hug and then I smile at the man at my eye-level. He's been my business partner since I began Persister, but we've known each other from university and since then we've been friends.

What do you think of the party? I give him a crooked look and he chuckles.

Oh, no, please. Zee just pointed out every little thing there is to see. The woman is driving me mad. Sorry we are a bit late, but we luckily drove in with the Roberts, so can't be that bad. Rufus and Zulia are running around at the back of the yard, barking and playing with Selina and Netta. The two Rhodesian Ridgebacks pummel into a flower bed with Afrikaners and the last few flowers fall away from the stalks.

On another subject...how is the negotiation going with Radebe Corporations? I want to be part of their board of directors; their revenue took one hell of a turn. We move to where Zinnia is hopping up and down with Lenka, but Lenka sees our approach and her nose crinkles, before she suddenly leaves. She is definitely hiding something.

They are keeping with Thomas' five outsiders max on the board, but seriously...great company and great promise, but their policy is just too risky. I think we should pass on it, Themba said and his reasoning isn't clear, but he did help me keep my head on straight with his intense research into company policies, before we tried taking over.

Can't we just give a try at it? I don't like missing out in one of South Africa's fastest growing companies, but you can't have it all.

He shakes his head with that stupid shaved style he said the ladies like, It would be the best to just let it be, but you have to try some of their commercial products. Guy was a genius, Themba continued and from what I can remember reading up on the corporation, they are the next step in environmental friendly production. Suddenly, Themba turns extremely serious, The Jeffrey-

Let's leave that for Monday, I quickly say.

Zinnia jovially walks to us, Isn't she just looking beautiful? I give her a hug and a kiss, You are in for a surprise, Malcom. She looks awfully excited, as her gorgeous face lit up with a smile. The model part of her still perfectly shows in the way she moves, as she steps in next to her husband.

You might want to help a fellow out here? Lenka is avoiding something... Zinnia gains a mischievous smile.

I told you we shouldn't introduce the two. They are little devils, Themba clearly gives Zinnia little pinch on her firm ass, but I pretend not seeing it.

I think she'll tell you pretty soon, Zinnia nearly shrills, as she indicates over my shoulder and I see Lenka walking towards us with my mother at her side. Lenka looks pissed off that she is being brought back to me and I see her bite on her inner cheek with displeasure. The Musaines softly greet and then they head to where Asha and John are looking a little more than tipsy.

Dear, please tell your wife she should dance with you, my mother says, basically handing Lenka over. My poor wife looks like she wants run.

Lenka doesn't like it, she gives me wry little smile and my mother ignores my statement, leaving Lenka behind. Lenka looks dreadful at being alone with me and her pressing the necklace I gave her, into her chest bone, is the biggest sign of her discomfort. Sparrow? You are hiding something. Are you going to tell me or am I going to screw it out of you?

She pants a little, The second sounds nice, her voice is husky and her skin flushes. I think I should go see how my parents- I grab her hand and pull her toward the dance floor. She follows behind and when I pull her to my body, she calms down, as we begin to sway, while Laurie Levine sings Love Anew on the stage.

I still think Lenka can be one hell of a dancer, but she sat flat on her sexy ass in protest the last time I tried teaching her how to. She commented on rather learning how to butt dance and later realised it sounded like some sly innuendo about anal, before threatening me with death, if I ever repeated the words. The thought of forcing her to follow my commands nearly killed me that day, as I sternly told her to get up and arousal crossed her eyes like wildfire, while she pertly found her feet. I sensed she liked it a little when I told her what to do, but ignored it and moved on, which again she reacted to quite oddly, as she turned a little less excitable.

Oh, look...Kara looks like she has found someone to talk to her own age. Who is it? He looks like someone Bryan might need to polish his gun for. She breathes, I bet Miranda is excited though. That reminds me, we need to put chocolate syrup on the shopping list or do you know where we left it the last time we-

Lenka, you are avoiding something and you are babbling. You can't lie to me, sparrow. I'll find out and you can choose how I do so. Her small little nose crinkles and it is a dead giveaway. Lenka, come on, tell-

I'm pregnant, she blanches and then her face turns comical, as she looks as if she just ate a lemon or two.

Wait...what? I try focussing on what she said, but I am too surprised to think straight.

As Asha said it...when a straight couple loves each-

Are you really pregnant? Are we going to-

You aren't freaking out. What's wrong with you, Malcom? She looks adorably shocked and I kiss her flaming forehead. She frowns so hard, it nearly seems painful, as I stare back into her eyes, while I smooth my thumb over her lower lip.

I feel the curl of own my lips, as my beautiful wife with the constant nervous glare stares back up at me, Why should there be something wrong, sparrow?

"We've never talked about children. I have never even thought of the little fucking devil things." She looks so endearingly frustrated, my heart swells.

Sparrow, I love you so much and having a child with you isn't as scary as I thought it would be. I just don't understand why Asha and Zinnia knew before me.

They told you? She panics; she always frets over the silliest things. About herself mostly, but she need not to, because she is perfection in flesh and even though her mind is mostly filled with wayward things, I still can't believe how perfect she is for me.

I chuckle, No, you gave the part, of you hiding something, away quite well on your own.

Sorry, she looks at my chest, I wanted to...I was just afraid you would be mad.

I could never possibly be mad; I am surprised, but never mad.

She smiles at me in relief and the admiration fills her eyes. I think I feel better now knowing a part of you also feels a little excited about this. I first thought that I hated the idea, but when I had let it slip in front of Zinnia, she...you should've seen how happy she was. Her nose crinkles, Can we do it though? Can we be parents? I think you'll be great, but I-

Lenka, don't over think it, How many times have I said those exact words and here we are again. "It is a natural thing for Homo sapiens to take care of their children. You're the one with the masters' degree and you are worrying about one of the simplest things on earth. She guiltily smiles, but while I know her reason for doubting herself goes back to the crap we had been through, I don't let them draw her mind astray. I guess it is safe to say Asha dragged you away earlier to do a test?"

She nods, Yeah, but we should just keep the pregnancy thing quiet until I can get to Dr. Kruger.

He is here; we can ask him to-

Let's just wait a bit, she looks scared and I can't grasp how she still doubts herself.

Lenka, listen, I hold her tighter against my body; her arms perfectly wraps around my waist and she smoothes the side of her face into my chest. Her hair smells like pomegranates and I stroke my hand over the soft brown strands that lie across her back. We will find out and keep it quiet for as long as you want to, but eventually people are going to see your stomach grow.

What?! We both turn to face both our mothers standing to our left, just to the side of the dance floor. It also seems that the music has conveniently turn lower and the people quieter.

Lenka looks up at me; distraught is a close enough description of her face's reaction, The little sparrow is out of the bag now.

Mr. Roberts steps up behind the two women and hands them glasses of wine, looks with a frown at the women staring and then follows their gaze to us. "What's up? Has Bafanna won the World Cup?"

Oh, H-Balls, Lenka smashes her head into my chest. She fakes sobbing sounds and grips tighter around my waist, while Asha cracks up a few metres away.

Uhm, I face Mr. Roberts. How do you tell a father you impregnated his daughter...even if you are married? This isn't a company takeover, this is life threatening. I see the people collecting, We're having a baby. Lenka looks up at me and her eyes nearly pop out.

I thought we all knew? Mr. Roberts says, patting Netta who stood at his side, smelling the contents on the table, while he sneakily fed her a tiny cocktail sausage.

Lenka looks at her father and her face resembles her favourite internet meme, How do you know? Our mothers look equally shocked, but Asha had clearly told John, Harry and Colene and that gains her a scowl from Lenka, but Asha shakes her head. Themba was told by Zinnia by the look of his smile, so how did Mr. Roberts know?

Everyone looks at him seeking an answer, When we arrived I saw you looked a little different. Your mother said something and...my little sparrow, your reaction was a dead giveaway. Damn, he's good.

Lenka stands facing our friends and family. The rest of the people, mostly the Reeses, look overjoyed and then Lenka sighs, as she sees everyone's expressions. Surprise! There is a pretty big chance that I'm pregnant and apparently I am not going to keep it secret, the last she says through clenched teeth.

There is silence and then Lenka's nose crinkles at her discomfort, right before the group of people cheer. Asha jumps up onto a table and shouts the most inappropriate thing imaginable about pregnancy porn, before Harry drags her off. I see Lenka holding back her laughter, because while everyone else clearly thought Asha's joke was offensive, I knew the two of them were on a level of humour not shared with the world.

    Sparrow? She looks up at
