About this ebook

The Plaything is a carnal tale of blackmail and domination. When Alexandra Frost lands a job working for the mayor of Ney Work City, she thinks life will be a breeze. But she quickly discovers Mayor Black is a domineering boss who tolerates nothing short of perfection. When a silly mistake threatens her continued employment, Alexandra is forced to go to unthinkable lengths just to keep her job.

Excerpt from The Plaything:

“Enter,” came Mayor Black’s voice, moments after my knuckles had left the door for the final time.

When I entered, the mayor was seated at his desk. Behind him stood his bodyguards, motionless as ever. I just stood there, too afraid to speak.

The mayor’s eyes focused on me for a second before he stood up. Crossing the room in a few strides, he began slowly circling me, studying my every detail. I suddenly regretted wearing such a skimpy dress. It was too short. Too molding. Too sexy.

The mayor didn’t seem impressed by what he saw. I wasn’t accustomed to being tossed aside to callously. Every other man I had come across had put the moves on me at some point or another and their intentions had been clear from the beginning. But Mayor Black was no ordinary man. He was an alpha male and, clearly, a simple secretary was not worthy of his admiration.

As soon as he was done scrutinizing me, he returned to his desk. Instead of sitting behind it, he leaned against the front of it. His eyes lingered on me for a few more seconds before he spoke.

“Remove your dress,” he said.

The request was so unexpected that I chocked on my own saliva. I began to cough and tears filled my eyes.

“Pardon me?” I asked once my coughing had died down and most of the tears had been expulsed from my eyes.

Emotionless as ever, he repeated his command.

The nature of the “discussion” I had been invited to part take in suddenly became clear. But was I willing to compromise my principles just to keep a job I never really wanted in the first place? The answer came to me almost immediately. Yes. In truth, it was not the job itself I craved so desperately, but rather the one it could lead to. Could it be true? Could becoming cultural director of New York City truly mean that much to me? Unfortunately, it was.

I threw the bodyguards a nervous glance. As usual, they didn’t move a muscle.

“Don’t worry,” assured the mayor, having obviously noticed my worried expression. “They are paid to protect, not watch.”

I nodded, though their presence was far from comforting. Still, the presence of two more men would not affect my decision; I had to keep my job, no matter the cost. Taking a deep breath to calm my shattered nerves, I began unzipping my dress.

I could barely hear the sound of the metal teeth being pulled apart through the pounding of my heart in my ears. My hands trembled, but I refused to give in to my anxiety. I slid the straps off my shoulders and let the dress fall to the floor. It formed a perfect circle around my ankles.

I stood there, motionless. I was terrified at the thought of being asked to remove the black lace underwear I had chosen to wear. I wasn’t. Instead, the mayor stood up and slowly strode toward me, loosening his tie as he approached. By the time he reached me, it had fallen from his neck and now hung limply from one of his hands.

“I have always wanted a plaything,” he said as he slid the index finger from his free hand across my cheek. A shiver ran through me. “You will be my plaything, won’t you?” he asked, following the curve of my jaw with his finger.

I nodded.

“Good girl,” said the mayor as he made his way around me. I hated not being able to see him, but I knew better than to turn around. I waited, heart pounding in my chest. After what felt like an eternity, he finally grabbed my hands and used the tie to bind my wrists together. I didn’t like where this was going, but I knew it was too late to back down now.

I never pictured myself writing erotica, yet here I am, writing my biography. Up until quite recently, I was content keeping my vivid imagination buried deep within me. That all changed the day I decided to join the twenty-first century and bought an e-reader. Shortly after, I uncovered a deep-rooted love of erotica. Unfortunately, almost every single erotic novel I read left me with a bitter taste in my mouth."Why do most authors think it's all right to ignore the laws of good storytelling when sex is involved?" I asked myself. When no answer came to mind, I was left with a choice: Keep on sifting through the mountain of refuse that is erotica as we know it in search of those few hidden pearls or give up on it altogether. I was about to pick the latter when my friend introduced me to the joys of writing erotica. I instantly fell in love. I just hope my tantalizing tales of seduction can transform me into the author I only recently discovered I wanted to be.*Join the Newsletter at TripleErotica.com to get 3 FREE stories from my friends and me. Prologue

Landing a job as the mayor’s personal secretary was no small task, especially one that ruled over one of the largest cities in North America with an iron first. The price for this honor had been every single favor I had banked in my twenty-three years of existence, but it was worth it. Mayor Matthew Black was a legend in this city and simply being in his employment for a short time would elevate my social status beyond my wildest dreams. I couldn’t care less how others saw me, but such an elevation would bring me one step closer to my dream job; cultural director for the entire city.

Even at a very young age, my passion for the arts burned bright. For a short time, I dared dream to be a famous actor or a talented artist, but it soon became clear my future lay elsewhere. My hand-eye coordination was a joke and my lack of imagination a constant reminder of my failed dreams. Thankfully, I soon found a way to embrace my destiny while remaining close to the world of art.

While other children my age dreamed of being superheroes and princesses, I imagined myself sitting in an office, discussing how best to improve the city’s dramatic arts funding or how to attract more tourists by embracing the young, unknown artists that came to our fine city in search of fame and fortune.

Now that I was a city employee, only one person could keep me from landing my dream job; the mayor of New York City.

    Chapter 1

My heart began to race as I neared the thirty-fifth floor. I slid my hands across my thighs, wiping away the nervous sweat that covered them.

Relax, I told myself, but my voice wavered with anxiety. I was moments away from meeting the mayor and it was primordial I make a good impression.

I peered into the elevator’s chrome-plated doors and focused on the reflection that stood there. The young woman that peered back at me had shoulder-long brown hair that glistened in the light whenever she nervously shifted from foot to foot. Her vermillion lipstick-coated lips were pressed in a nervous grimace that faded as soon as she realized what she was doing. The two-piece suit she wore had been selected with great care. The cut of the blazer infused the outfit with professionalism while the shortness of the skirt kept the wearer’s great beauty prominent. A pair of high-heels helped heighted this effect while the attaché case she held balanced it out to ensure a strictly-business aura enveloped her at all times.

I took a few deep breaths and closed my eyes to calm myself. When I opened them again, the shaking in my hands was gone. My heart
