Four friends gather in a remote house to wait out "the end of the world" - but they are not alone! FADE IN:

    EXT. SNOWY FIELD - DAY

High up in the bare tree branches, we descend to track over

the deep snow in the country. It's a lovely sunny day. The

sunlight reflects off the snow. No one is outside.

Moving through the forest, the sunlight is broken by trees.

It's quiet, with only the wind.

EXT. HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY - DAY

Moving closer we come to a road, and follow it to a driveway.

    The sign: Gaia's Naturopathic Clinic.

Up the snowy driveway we come to a clearing.

The car outside has strange Sunshields over all the

windows, like dark filters, with government safety warnings

    on them.

We see a large, custom-designed house that looks like it was

built by an architect. The large mansion sits nestled in a

woodland setting, with deep snow all around, and Christmas

    lights on the awnings.

All of the windows have Sunshields.

TITLE: "December 21st, 2011. A small town in the north

    country."

Two figures are visible in the window of the house, only

    silhouettes through the Sunshields.

    INT. KITCHEN - DAY

GAIA SIMPSON (attractive, athletic 30's professional) and

MIKE RICHARDS (30's attractive, blue collar) sit drinking

    coffee.

He reads the sports section of the newspaper, she reads a New

Age magazine with the headline 2012 - doomsday? Apocalypse?

    MIKE

Do you want some breakfast, hon?

    GAIA

No, I'm going to do yoga.

    MIKE

    Ok, babe.

He kisses her, then crosses to the fridge and pulls out

    bacon.

    GAIA

I don't know how you can eat that.

    MIKE

    What, bacon? It's great!

    GAIA

It's so cruel how they factory farm

the animals - and then you absorb

all of that fear and suffering

energy into your body when you eat

them. The only time most of those

poor animals ever go outside, or

see the sun is when they are

    trucked to a slaughterhouse. They

are kept in cages where they can't

    turn around, and they are

    genetically manipulated.

Their DNA is probably all screwed

up by now, and they are shot full

    of hormones, medications, and are

fed GMO feeds - and probably even

    other pig parts, ground up.

He throws slices of bacon down on the pan. They HISS and

    CRACKLE.

    MIKE

So, you are saying pigs are

    cannibals, now?

    GAIA

    The factory farmed ones? Pretty

    much, yeah. They've been turned

    into cannibals against their will.

She shakes her head, sighs, and puts her magazine down.

    MIKE

    Well, they are tasty cannibals!

    GAIA

    That's not very funny.

    MIKE

Not everyone is a raw vegan, you

    know?

    GAIA

    (sighs)

    I know. That's why I'm still trying

    to reach them. And, you.

    (beat)

If you insist on eating dead meat,

    at least try something free-range,

and organic, ok? It will be a

little better for you, if not for

    the animals.

    MIKE

I know you love me hon, but

sometimes you get a little heavy-

    handed with things.

She comes over, hugs, and kisses him.

    GAIA

I just want you to be as healthy as

possible, and it's proven that a

    raw vegan diet...

    MIKE

...that a raw vegan diet is the

most healthy one and that it can

reverse and even prevent more types

of disease, such as cancer and

    heart disease...I know, you've told

    me a million times.

She stands back and crosses her arms.

    GAIA

Fine. Then, you know. I've done

what I can. I've made vegan food

for you to try, what more can I do?

It's down to your choice, hon.

    MIKE

Yes, it does comes down to personal

choice. And, I choose some very,

    very tasty bacon!

    GAIA

    Ugh! Grease, pesticides and

hormones! Just don't eat too much,

    ok?

    MIKE

    (grinning)

You think that stuff might be

getting into you from me, don't

    you?

    GAIA

You know me very well. It's scary

    sometimes!

He winks at her, then turns back to his cooking.

    GAIA

    (continuing; smiling)

Don't forget to put the fan on, ok?

I don't need to smell that...

    burning pig flesh.

    MIKE

    Sure, babe.

He flips on the fan. She exits.

    He looks into the pan.

    He moves the bacon around.

    He looks perplexed.

He SMELLS the bacon cooking. He smiles and licks his lips. He

looks around to make sure she is gone.

    MIKE

    (continuing)

    Mmmmmmm! Bacon!!!

    INT. GAIA'S BEDROOM - CONTINUING

Gaia changes into her workout clothes. We pan around the

beautiful bedroom, with porthole windows (covered with the

Sunshields, and then multicolored tie-dye fabrics). A couple

of cats play on the floor.
