Chapter 1

Hey, Katie… The words came from the other room, rousing Katie out of dreamland.

Katie groaned in protest. Why am I always the last one awake?

She’d been the little spoon that night, tucked safe into Serena’s arms as they fell asleep together, naked and warm under the white comforter. And while they hadn’t made love again since their escapade on the beach the night before, something finally felt right. Mostly right, anyway.

Serena’s voice had awoken her from dreams of being chased by paparazzi with Katy Perry in the clouds. I definitely feel better after a night’s rest, Katie mused, blinking a few times and rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.

The prospect of morning coffee was improving Katie’s mood in steady degrees as well, and her head felt a little more clear than she’d become accustomed to feeling in the morning hours on this rather boozy vacation. Serena sounded cheery as usual, and the smell of hot coffee probably had at least a little bit to do with that.

Katie sat up in the bed, her small breasts only just barely uncovered by the comforter. I feel kinda sexy, all rumpled and bed-headed and all of that. Or like a dork. One of the two.
