Author

Donna V.

Raised in South Florida and presently residing on the island of Hawai'i, Donna was a former university professor and fashion designer. It was her extensive travel which began at a very young age that created an intense interest in multi-national culture, eventually leading to a Master of International Business Administration (MIBA) degree - providing the entry to a career as a professor of international business. Donna's belief that we are all here on this beautiful planet to experience life lessons and be of assistance to others as they travel their "spiritual road" through life led her to become a successful author. She has completed the first part of her commitment to the Divine to do his work in our world today with the six-book series, "Mind, Body, and Spirit." The second half of that promise is sure to include both private and public speaking engagements and continued international travel. In the future, Donna looks forward to enjoying her well-established active outdoor lifestyle featuring "open water" swimming and outrigger canoe paddling. Her path has been an exciting and very fulfilling one and she plans to keep generously sharing her "gifts" with others as long as she lives. As Donna says, "This is a guarantee..."

Being the daughter of a yacht captain I am well versed in the use of charts to plot a course. One does not just leave their slip at the marina without having a very good idea of the direction in which they are headed. Landmarks and buoys are used as a double check and of course there is the ship’s compass.

My whole life has been spent in the pursuit of perfection. Yes, I have relaxed my quest over the last few years as I began to realize that actual perfection was an illusion and thus its seeking was basically pointless.

It was only when I became a writer and was actively in charge of the design for my covers and book interiors that my ideals came back to haunt me like a ghost from the past. After all, I was now responsible for the presentation of my ideas to the women of this planet and I wanted their first impression to be a good one.

I remember when my second book, Cheers, Donna V., came back for its first proofing. As I opened the UPS box I took a deep breath, feeling my blood pressure accelerate as I examined the contents. All of my specific instructions had been ignored by the interior designer. After quickly accessing the damage I immediately called to schedule a consultation with my contact at the printer.

By the time my appointment date arrived I had prepared my speech. No, I would not begin the interview with both guns a-blazing and a negative attitude. I had a better plan. I would express my displeasure in a positive story format—something I had learned from my dad...

    ––––––––

I began with, I am the owner of the ship, Donna V., and you are my very capable captain. We have charted a perfect course. You have relayed these coordinates to your crew. Instead of a heading of 63 degrees due east (per your orders) their heading is 67 degrees 30’ east-northeast because that is the way the last ship they crewed on sailed through the same waters. They are not following our directions and we are off-course. At this rate, instead of arriving in the Canary Islands we will be somewhere in Iceland before we know it.

If you are reading this book it is because your compass is off. Perhaps, like me, you charted a perfect course but your captain left the helm at a critical time and you are now headed for rough waters. No matter. Charts can be re-read and courses can be re-plotted.

After all, that was my intention behind this book—not so much perfection but instead to allow an opportunity of starting over again through the discovery of a few new secrets—specifically tailored to today’s lifestyle.

I dedicate this book to my dad, Captain Roy.

    Sea Fever

    ––––––––

I MUST go down to the seas again, to

the lonely sea and the sky,

And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by,

And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song

    and the white sails shaking,

And a gray mist on the sea’s face, and a gray dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for

the call of the running tide

    Is a wild call and a clear call that cannot be denied;

And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,

And the flung spray and the blown spume,

    and the seagulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again, to the vagrant gypsy life,

To the gull’s way and the whale’s way, where

    the wind’s like a whetted knife;

And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow-rover,

And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick’s over.

    About the Author

    Preface

    ––––––––

I write on serious life topics for women who are ready to embrace change in their lives. This book is no exception.

This is not a book for women to read and re-visit the reason why they are in a precarious physical state. This book catapults one out of the past, while ushering them quickly into the future. It is a book written for a proactive woman—the woman who is ready to take charge of her life and make the jump across the ravine to the other side and into the unknown. That crossing will take faith and a willingness to let go. A 100 percent trust in the fact that the Divine will assist in your transit.

This woman can readily answer the question: How did I get here? But is seeking the answer to the question: How can I bring myself back to completeness? It is written for the woman searching for wholeness in mind, body, and soul.

This is the book that I wish was available for purchase before a life threatening illness overcame my being. A book I could have benefited from immediately and saved myself much time and agony. Instead, I was prompted to travel the journey alone, assisted by the Divine and using only faith to move forward—not knowing what lie ahead. I advanced very slowly, day after day, with my arms outstretched feeling for obstacles in my path of total darkness.

I offer this gift to all of you, my readers, so that your way may be illuminated and your burden may not be such a heavy one.

    I love you all,

    Introduction

    ––––––––

The other day on a run from my villa to the ocean, I overheard two women talking about a book. As the first was working on the explanation, the second said, Oh, it’s a change the way you eat thing... The first countered with, Yes. The author lost weight and then she started walking. She walks really fast every day and she says it made all the difference in her life.

I will be providing my readers with a very different kind of knowledge base. It will deal with the mind and your thought processes. In this book you will not find products endorsed, diets outlined, or medical advice dispensed.

We will be charting an entirely different course. Our adventure begins by seeking direction in the mind and from there we take an extended voyage navigating through our body and finally arriving at our destination—the Bay of the Divine. While resting in this beautiful, tranquil bay we will learn the secret of direct contact with the Divine for use in answering all of life’s questions—both
