Moray Castle, Scotland, 1614

Flora. Flora. Flora.

Ethan groaned.

Since he'd gotten back to the castle last night, it seemed his son's new teacher was all anyone could talk about. Hell. Even his curmudgeon adviser had spoken highly of her.

After a string of unsuccessful teachers, he knew better than to believe everything he had heard, but that didn't stop him from hoping that his prayers had finally been answered. William was slower than most children and it hurt to see his son struggling so much with his studies. If this Flora didn't work out, he didn't know what else he could do.

As he approached the library, he heard William's laugh and stopped in his tracks. He
