In this booklet, the author discusses ways to enhance the homestead with container gardens, plan and start a brand new garden, locate the information one needs to be successful in gardening, ways to save money, different types of soil and how plants respond to them, what the drought means to gardeners plus a list of plants that are drought resistant, planning "the perfect plant for the perfect place," and maintaining shrubs and trees with proper pruning.
The series is fully illustrated with vivid photographs, as well as links to some outside garden articles by this author.

Toni Leland has been writing for over 25 years. She writes both fiction and non-fiction, and freelance for several magazines, a gardening website, and one newspaper. She is a professional editor and photographer. In her spare time, loves gardening, cooking (and eating!), reading, travel, horses, and cats. Throughout her life, her greatest love has been horses. From riding them as a young girl, to breeding and raising Arabians and Morgans as an adult, to writing about them as a passion - these wonderful creatures filled her life and her stories. Anyone can have a lovely garden, large or small. All it takes is a little knowledge and some patience. The myth of the Green Thumb
is just that. The only secret to successful gardening is that of finding the right plant for the right place. Add water and sunshine (or shade) and, Voila! a garden. What follows are several articles intended for the novice gardener who wants more information than just how to dig a hole and plant a seed or shrub.
