About this ebook

'Sammy the Samango Monkey', is the first in a series of stories about a Samango monkey who was orphaned and came to live with a human family when he was only a day old. Because he was brought up by humans and allowed to interact with them, he became very clever and very naughty too. He could open any door, window, cupboard, fridge or microwave oven. He used to open the fridge and take the lettuces out and feed the tortoises at the centre where he grew up. For companionship, besides the humans, he had a troop of wild vervets that visited regularly, cages of vervets that were being rehabilitated so they could return to the wild, cats, a dog and tortoises and many other creatures. These then are the stories of his time at the centre. He was released back into the wild when he was five years old, and now is happily back with a troop of Samango monkeys jumping about in the canopy of a forest.

He came to live with his human family when he was only a day old. Because he was with humans, he became very smart and could open every door, window, cupboard, fridge or microwave oven. He was always in trouble and as he grew up, he also started to bite if he could not have his own way.

Knowing that he would, when he was old enough, be returned back into the wild, he was raised running free. He never lived in a caged, slept outside from six months old and he was allowed to grow up as a monkey with a wild vervet troop to discipline him and
