Adventures with Jesus - Dr. Witherbee Elaine Denise

    ADVENTURES THIS QUARTER

The hope of believers is foundational to our faith. To enhance our understanding of the subject, this quarter focuses on three units that center on the overall theme of Christian and biblical hope.

    Unit I

    When Trouble Comes

Unit I, When Trouble Comes, is a four-lesson unit from the books of Job and Psalms. The first lesson focuses on how Job and the psalmist remained hopeful in the face of suffering. The second lesson is a study of Job’s hope in his Redeemer as well as the psalmist’s hope in God. The third lesson provides understanding of Job’s and the psalmist’s faithfulness to God in spite of great suffering. The fourth lesson highlights the importance of prayer as seen in Job and Psalms.

    Unit II

    God’s Majestic House of Worship

Unit II, God’s Majestic House of Worship, is a five-lesson study of different visions of God’s majesty. Lesson five details Ezekiel’s vision of God’s glory filling the temple. Lesson six underlines the importance of the altar in the temple. In lesson seven, Ezekiel’s vision of the life-giving water is explored. Lesson eight centers on how God’s presence was experienced among the early Church. The ninth lesson presents a challenge from the psalmist about having hope in God.

    Unit III

    In Awe of God

Unit III, In Awe of God, explores a variety of texts that express the adoration owed to God because of His majesty. Lesson ten provides insight on why the author of Hebrews says God is worthy of praise. Lesson eleven focuses on the psalmist’s proclamation of God’s being worthy of all praise because He is the Creator of the world. In lesson twelve, the shepherds’ adoration of God after the angel announces the Messiah’s birth is studied. Lesson thirteen reviews how people praised Jesus for His power and authority.

Director: According to all that I shew thee, after the pattern of the tabernacle, and the pattern of all the instruments thereof, even so shall ye make it.

School: And thou shalt command the children of Israel, that they bring thee pure oil olive beaten for the light, to cause the lamp to burn always.

All: In the tabernacle of the congregation without the vail, which is before the testimony, Aaron and his sons shall order it from evening to morning before the LORD: it shall be a statute for ever unto their generations on the behalf of the children of Israel.

    Recitation in Concert:

    Joshua 22:16, 18-19 (KJV)

16 Thus saith the whole congregation of the LORD, What trespass is this that ye have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the LORD, in that ye have builded you an altar, that ye might rebel this day against the LORD?

18 But that ye must turn away this day from following the LORD? and it will be, seeing ye rebel to day against the LORD, that to morrow he will be wroth with the whole congregation of Israel.

19 Notwithstanding, if the land of your possession be unclean, then pass ye over unto the land of the possession of the LORD, wherein the LORD’s tabernacle dwelleth, and take possession among us: but rebel not against the LORD, nor rebel against us, in building you an altar beside the altar of the LORD our God.

    CLOSING WORK

    1. Singing

    2. Sentences: Revelation 21:1, 3-4, 6-7 (KJV)

1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.

4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.

6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.

7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.

    3. Dismissal with Prayer
