About this ebook
Marian Nixon was originally from Superior, Wisconsin. She moved to Minneapolis after high school, training as a dancer and later entering vaudeville. She liked vaudeville, the stage, and dancing, but she opted to take a chance on becoming a motion picture actress. It was in 1918 that Nixon left a Los Angeles ballet troupe to try her luck in films. Her first, uncredited role, was in Rosita, a 1923 silent movie. Through hard work and good fortune Marian became a leading Hollywood film actress by 1929. Perhaps her best physical feature were her captivating and lovely eyes.

Marian Nixon was born in Superior, Douglas County, Wisconsin where she lived until she graduated from high school. She moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where she studied dancing before getting into stage work. Nixon later moved to Hollywood where she remained. A tiny woman she stood exactly five feet tall. Her lovely eyes were perhaps her best physical feature.
A talented banjo player Marian’s hobbies were rug weaving, music, and books. With her sister, Linda, who was not in movies, Marian originated many unique rug designs. The sisters weaved rugs by hand in a large room at home. Their friends were sometimes gifted with these rugs as Christmas presents. Marian was known as Mickey to her friends.
As a vaudeville chorus dancer following high school, Marian toured the Midwest and West. She relished the vaudeville lifestyle, its constant change, the new towns, new people, and new sensations. Yet she came to realize that she would never become a great dancer. When she went to Hollywood Nixon became determined to break into motion pictures.
Marian quit a ballet dance troupe in Los Angeles in 1918 to pursue a film career. She essentially eschewed dancing for a tiny un-credited role in Rosita,
