    Runaway Heart - Nicole Clark

Dedicated to all those who believed in me

Author note: This takes place three months after the ending events of Runaway King.

    One:

Matt woke up and stretched; but he could only get so far. His arm was being used as a pillow by a beautiful blonde lying beside him. The memories of last night came flooding back all at once. The party, the girl he’d hit on and how she’d taken to him almost instantly. She had been one of many girls that had wanted his attention, but only she had earned it. Throughout the party, she’d been attached to his hip and showered him with affection. None of it was love and he had made sure to tell her that he wasn’t looking for love. All he was looking for was a one night romp in the sheets; and if she as lucky enough to come across his path again, he’d show her a good time yet again. Of course she’d agreed eagerly, and he knew that as soon as he sent her on her way, she’d go tell her friends that she had been shown the time of her life with the president of the Demon Reaper Motorcycle Club. Not that he minded, a lot of the girls that found their way to his bed went back to their friends and told them about the things he did to their bodies. It was something he strived for, to never let a girl leave his bed unsatisfied. So far, he’d done exactly that.

Feeling her stir, he looked over at her and watched as her eyes fluttered open. Her beautiful hazel eyes looked up at him and a smile played at the corners of her lips. As she stretched, small groans fell from her lips. Those noises alone told him that he’d done a good job at leaving her with a reminder of her their night together.

I have to go to work. He got up and grabbed for his jeans. Since he hadn’t gone home, he was stuck wearing the clothes he’d worn when he’d picked her up. He didn’t keep a bag of clothes at the clubhouse and he was starting to wonder if he should, with as many nights as he spent there now days.

Can’t you skip today? she whined as she reached out and raked her nails down his back.

He turned and looked at her, I told you that this was only a one night thing. You agreed to it so don’t go trying to turn it into something that it’s not. Standing, he pulled on his shirt and grabbed his cut, sliding it on.

A sigh came from the direction of the bed moments before he heard her getting up to get dressed so she could leave. He paid her no mind while he finished getting ready himself. As soon as he was done, he turned and saw her pulling on her boots. Holding his hand out, he pulled her to him and kissed her softly.

Why are you kissing me if this isn’t anything other than a one night stand?

Because I respect the women I sleep with and like to let them know that I appreciate what they did for me. You were a fantastic lover, baby.

He intertwined their fingers and walked her out of the clubhouse and to her car. After exchanging a few words, he placed a kiss on her cheek and turned walking to the garage. He could already see that everyone was in the shop busy working on their individual projects. He hoped that no one would pay attention
