You do not need to be rich to think rich, but you need to think rich to get rich.

Becoming rich is a choice; the difference between desiring riches and achieving riches starts with the mind. The way you think affects the way you act. Once you train yourself to think like a rich person, your actions can follow.

I want people to look deeply within themselves and examine the beliefs and values that are subconsciously holding them back. Most people believe that becoming rich is not possible for them, so they do not even try. Different people think in different ways: the poor think like the poor, the middle class think like the middle class, and the rich think like the rich. Most of us are socialized to think like the middle class, and it’s this way of thinking that prevents us from becoming rich. If we do not change the way we think, we will never become rich. The middle class think like everyone else, and that is why they achieve the same results as everyone else. The rich, on the other hand, have their own way of thinking this brings about different (richer) outcomes.

My goal is to get people to stop thinking like the middle class, and to start thinking like rich people. We literally need to unlearn all of the middle class assumptions that we’ve been following, and then adopt rich assumptions. The middle class do not think they can get rich, so they do not try. The rich know they must get rich, and so they work at it until they succeed. This difference is everything.

To be rich, you must be able to think rich. This worked for me, and I have seen it work for others. We cannot begin a transformation in our lives until we change the way we think - we cannot become rich by employing poor- or middle class thinking. If we continue to do things the same way, we will not get different results. The reason the rich act differently with money is because they think differently about money – they understand it in their own way, a rich way. We must learn how the rich think so that we can do as the rich do.

When I graduated from university, I thought I was educated, but I knew absolutely nothing about how money worked. I knew I wanted to get rich, but I didn’t have a clue how to go about it, nor did I really understand what it meant to be rich. After university, I read a book on real estate investing that changed my life forever because it was the first time I began to learn how money actually worked, and how the rich related to money. Reading that book was the beginning of my financial education. I began challenging the assumptions I had about money, and the transformation of my mind began. This actually brought calm to my life because I felt that I was in much more control. I did not have any money, nor did I know exactly how I was going to come to have money, but through starting to understand how money worked, I felt much more confident that I would be able to move in the direction of being rich. It would be some time before I would make any money through my entrepreneurial endeavours, but that’s because I first needed to learn.
