I'm a married mother of two, born and raised in Massachusetts and now reside in Panama City Beach Florida with my family. I left cold long winters behind for a sunny warm climate with a beach in my backyard. I love to read, write and I'm also a cake decorating instructor in my spare time. I've always loved the beach and my first book is based on Nantasket beach in Hull Massachusetts where I spent most summer weekends enjoying the sun, ocean, small shops and reading a great book.

    Epilogue

It was a warm Friday afternoon in September. Bridget Kimbell sat at her desk looking out the window of her corner office in her parent’s prestigious law firm in downtown Boston. Bridget was startled out of her day dreaming when she heard a knock on her door, she turned to see her mother Monica Kimbell walking into her office and sitting down in a chair across from her desk.

    Hi mom is everything ok?

Yes, did you get the requisition I put on your desk this morning? Monica Kimbell asked.

Yes mom I looked it over briefly, do you know how dad wants to tackle this new account proposal?

Dad thought you could handle this one on your own. However keep in mind that we aren’t the only firm trying to land this account. This could be big and bring in a lot of revenue if we were able to get this contract signed.

Ok mom thanks; I’ll do the best I can. Do you know who else is showing big interest?

Yes the only big competition we have is with the Danesko, Muntz, and Hutch firm. Bridget knew this firm very well, they were known as very cutthroat. If they saw a new company show the slightest interest in a new firm they pounced and didn’t care who was caught in the crossfire. She never met any of the lawyers of the firm personally but knew that they had a young son that was taking over the family owned firm, as was the same with her family’s firm and herself.

Monica! Did you speak with Bridget regarding the All-in-one mall proposal? Yes honey I did, she said she is going to do her best.

Great! I hope she pulls this off, if she can then I know she’ll be ready to take over the firm and we can finally retire to travel the world.

It was a gloomy day as Alfonso Danesko left the courthouse Thursday afternoon when his phone rang. He grumbled seeing his father’s number on the display; he knew it couldn’t be good.

    Yea dad what’s going on?

Al we have competition with another firm for the All-in-one mall account.

    Whom are we dealing with?

Kimbell, Johnson, and Welch. They are going at this hard; Bridget Kimbell is meeting with the CEO at Anthony’s Pier 4 restaurant at 6pm tonight. What are you going to do about it Al?

Dad do you trust me to handle this account?

Yes of course, if I didn’t then I wouldn’t put you on it.

Ok dad then trust me, I’ll take care of it. Rolling his eyes he hung up and looked up the number for Kimbell, Johnson, and Welch.

    Hello, Bridget Kimbell please.

Who may I ask is calling?

This is Alfonso Danesko. He was put on hold, his temper beginning to flare. How dare they sneak in to take this account that he’s been working on for nearly a month now.

‘I can’t believe this twit is trying to get this; there is no way she’s taking this from me. I’ve worked too damn hard to loose it now.’ He thought while on hold.

Mr. Danesko, she is in a meeting right now. Can I take a message and have her call you back after the meeting?

You tell her I’m not buying the excuse and if she doesn’t want me at her office door in ten minutes she better take my call.

Yes sir I’ll try her again.

What is it now Theresa I’m in the middle of something. I told you to tell him I’m in a meeting, the last thing I want to do is talk to that Neanderthal.

I know Miss Kimbell but he said he’d be at your office door in ten minutes if you didn’t speak with him now.

Oh good lord, you can put him through.

Bridget Kimbell, how may I help you Mr. Danesko?

Hello Miss Kimbell, what are you thinking getting involved with this All-in-one account? I’ve had this locked down; they said it was a done deal. Can’t you find some other slum company to hassle?

Awe Mr. Danesko are we afraid of a little competition? It sounds to me that they weren’t too happy with your little proposal, maybe it’s time you thought about a career change.

Who do you think you are to speak to me like that? You have some nerve Miss. Kimbell!

My my Mr. Danesko, seems like I’ve touched a nerve. I have to be going because I have a meeting to get to, have a good evening. Oh and good luck finding a new account! She hung up and gathered her paperwork to hurry across town to the restaurant where she was meeting the CEO of All-in-one malls.

I can’t believe she hung up on me, if it’s a fight she wants it’s a fight she’s gonna get! He had to do something to get the account back, what he couldn’t think of just then but he knew it would come to him. While he continued his walk back to the office it came to him, he would go to the restaurant and try to hear what her firm was offering. Then he could try to one up them, since his father knew the restaurant where they were meeting he would just call and make a last minute reservation. He found the number on his phone and called right away.

Anthony’s Pier 4 how may I assist you this afternoon?

Hello I was wondering if you had any reservations left for this evening at 6 pm?

Yes sir I do have a few tables still available for that time, how many are in your party?

Just myself, the name is Danesko.

Ok I have you down for 6pm this evening for one Mr. Danesko, will there be anything else I can do for you?

No that was all. Thank you.

My pleasure, have a great afternoon.

You also. Alfonso hung up as he walked into his office and closed the door. Only a few moments after he settled into his chair there was a knock on his door.

Come in Alfonso said without looking up from his computer.

Honey did you speak with the other firm?

Yes I spoke with Bridget Kimbell after I spoke with dad and gave her a piece of my mind.

You know why your dad is so mad that they are going after the mall account right?

All I know is dad has an issue with the Kimbell family but he never told me much about it.

Well years ago your grandmother was harassed by Bill Kimbell’s mother. She would call her a tramp, home wrecker, and some other choice curse words that I don’t care to repeat. Well of course your grandmother was mortified, as this would happen whenever she went out and saw Mrs. Kimbell. So one day she confronted her about it and asked why she always said such hateful things to her. Mrs. Kimbell said she should know she’s the one that slept with her husband and ruined their marriage.

Oh wow did they end up getting divorced or something?

No back in those days you just stayed together but it made for a miserable life. So to this day we don’t have anything to do with that family. Your grandmother never had an affair with Mr. Kimbell. Mrs. Kimbell was crazy or at least that’s what grandma said.

No wonder no one gets along, what kind of person does that to someone else without any proof. Thanks mom for explaining all of this to me.

You’re welcome, I just wanted you to know the kind of people you are dealing with. Maria left her son to his work. Alfonso pondered what his mother told him, not sure how he should move forward. Before Alfonso knew it he had to leave to for the restaurant.

    Chapter 1

Bridget was seated in the back corner of the luxurious five star restaurant made famous by all the celebrities who traveled across the country to dine there. She opened her briefcase to retrieve her proposal and the contract. With her back to the rest of the restaurant she waited and watched the people milling around outside on the pier on this gloomy Thursday evening. She thought about going away for a day trip on Saturday to her favorite place in the state; Nantasket beach in Hull Massachusetts. Saturday would be perfect (she thought) the forecast was projected to be a warm 85 degrees with nothing but sun all day long. Granted it was a long drive to hull from her cozy Boston high-rise apartment building, she knew it would be worth it though. She deserved the down time after her conversation earlier with Alfonso Danesko; she couldn’t believe how sexy his low voice was. She was finding herself fantasizing about what he would look like; maybe 6 feet with broad muscular shoulders, dark hair and light eyes.

I can’t believe I’m thinking about this right now. Bridget get with it girl you must get this deal done, focus she mumbled as she looked down at her gold and diamond watch checking the time. She still had fifteen minutes left until their appointed six pm meeting time. She glanced over her shoulder just to see and tall gorgeous man walking in her direction; she quickly turned away before he could notice her staring at him. God he was stunning; 6 feet tall broad shoulders, his muscles bulging under his designer suit, dark thick black hair that she wanted to run her fingers through. He had the most beautiful light blues eyes that she’d ever seen in her life, eyes she could stare into until the end of time. A smile that would make any woman weak in the knees, in a matter of moments she could feel herself on fire wanting him.

Alfonso followed the hostess to his table, which he requested be close to Bridget Kimbell’s table so he could hear the business conversation. He looked around the old restaurant to find her and the only person he saw was sitting one table to the front of him. A woman was sitting at the table alone and facing the windows overlooking the pier, her back to him. It had to be her; she had long blonde wavy hair, maybe 5’5" he thought. As he sat there waiting he ordered a glass of red wine and filet mignon. It didn’t take long for his mind to wander back to Bridget Kimbell; he couldn’t get her out of his mind all day. Her voice was so soft and beautiful; he pictured her as a tall leggy brunette with big brown eyes, not the blonde that sat at the table opposite of his.

Miss. Kimbell I presume! She stood at the mention of her name, only to see an older man to her left.

    Yes, Mr. Alston?

Yes my dear, I hope I didn’t keep you waiting very long?

No not at all sir. Please have a seat.

Thank you, have you ordered yet?

No I haven’t I thought I would wait for you.

Great lets order and eat then we can talk business, I never talk about business on an empty stomach. He said smiling. The waitress at that precise moment arrived to take their orders, Mr. Alston ordered them a fine bottle of expensive bottle of Louis Roederer Cristal and then ordered fresh whole Dover sole, she ordered shrimp scampi. While they waited for their meal Mr. Alston started asking small talk questions.

How long has you’re family had the law firm? Lou Alston asked.

My Grandparents started the firm, then my parents took over. I’m going to be taking over soon so my parents can finally retire. How about you, any desire to retire? Bridget inquired, in hopes she could gain some insight as to who she may have to deal with in the future and how soon in the future that would be.

That’s so wonderful for you my dear, how does your husband feel about the new prospect? Must require late nights running such a prestigious firm such as your families. I don’t plan on retiring anytime soon, however my son Justin has always helped with the day to day tasks. Lou stated. Perfect Bridget thought, putting the name into her mental data bank to write down later.

"Oh I’m not married, that’s why I think it’s a great time to take over. It does take a lot to run the firm, like your son Justin I have also been helping my father for years with all the tasks. So I feel more than equipped at this point to take
