About this ebook

For the first time in history, a new path to cancer prevention for those over 40 years of age is disclosed. The common denominator and other bioactive compounds of three different medicinal mushrooms from Japan, China and the Himalayas respected for two millennia have been discovered and Western research into them is presented. They re-arm the immune system which deteriorates as we age preventing some cancers from escaping as they usually do. They also act as a benign chemotherapy without any of the usual side effects killing cancers as they develop. Used in combination with traditional methods of cancer treatment, there is a dramatic drop in side effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy with increased and prolonged remissions that demand immediate methodologically sound research. Just one bioactive compound has taken up 25% of Japanese Government spending on all anti-cancer agents for over 30 years. We must all re-arm our immune systems now and consider preemptive use.

Cancer Immunization - Dr Gregory J. Berry

    age.

A re-armed immune system can provide the first insurance policy against cancer in history and potentially slow the aging process. Re-arming the immune system in this way is called Proactive Immunomodulation (PAI). It is time to find a way to fight our common enemies: death, suffering and fragility. The author of this book, Dr Gregory Berry, is 59 years of age and I predict that one day, we will look back and celebrate this publication dedicated to prolonging the vitality and spirit of life.

This signpost book is an attempt to reveal the methods being used on the front line of the battle. The author boldly states that, without a diagnosis, any person over 40 years of age should, after consulting their family doctor, seriously consider taking the equivalent of Japanese PSK or its Chinese alternative called PSP. PSK has been on prescription in Japan since 1977.

Within 10 years of its release, PSK accounted for 25% of total national expenditure on all anti-cancer agents in Japan.

It functions by rebuilding the aging immune system and acts as a chemotherapeutic agent without any of the well-known side effects of the currently accepted methods of chemotherapy.

It assists the immune system in various other ways due to its anti-microbial, anti-viral and anti-tumor properties as well as restoring the ‘muscle’ to immunosurveillance that aging brings. PSK is difficult to obtain outside of Japan - PSP from China is more readily available until we can convince our governments that every country needs to produce its own. The production of PSP within China has been problematic due to contamination by heavy metals and pesticides. Luckily for us, it is now being grown elsewhere in the world but in insufficient quantities given its potential.

The common denominator of PSK and PSP is a similar Beta-glucan, of which there are many. The potential of affordable and effective cancer prevention and slowed aging is an offer too good to refuse. I reiterate the importance of involving your treating doctor to ensure that PSP is suitable for your body without interactions with your current medications. Appendix 2 is a guide that is not meant to be definitive. One should not attempt PAI if pregnant or breast feeding, of course.

It is so obvious that with the immune system wearing out as we age and cancers emerging, no one would run a vintage car without regular service yet that is the way most of us treat our own bodies as we age!

I am writing this preface to you from Hong Kong and am very proud to be Chinese- Australian. Thus, I am delighted to endorse a book that proposes a combination of both Asian and Western approaches to medicine. Dr Berry has not just been discussing the issue with me as a herbal medicine researcher specialized in Immunology but also with a network and Institute here in Hong Kong that all aim to provide evidence-based health benefits to the community.

He has drawn upon two millennia of Asian knowledge, which has now moved into the arena of Western scientific embryonic proof. This book sheds light on immune system enhancement and explores the research signposts in Appendix 1 (b) of the cutting edge areas for preventing and curing other diseases. Cancer Immunization is balanced by succinct summaries of related clinical trials, animal studies and laboratory investigations.

Conclusions are drawn from animal experiments and terminal cancer patients until large-scale long-term human studies can be carried out.
