    REVIEW:

Koture Peterson is not your typical teenager, this unforgettable character deftly navigates a life that is far from dull. In between planning for her senior prom and her graduation, her life takes a number of interesting turns between two very important roles in her life.  This is an indulgent read that offers many surprises.  Needless to say, Ko’ture is a compelling page-turner, in Koture, we meet a young lady whose intelligence, sass, and confidence helps her create her own world.

    Introduction

Some things in life are not always honestly transparent to the naked eye. And some people aren’t what they appear or proclaim to be. Maybe, they’re angels sent from God, or more so a Devil’s child in disguise? Know, who and what you choose to possess affairs with for you may find yourself in a forbidden ‘trine’ entanglement of the heart.

    Unforeseen that is!

That can leave you ultimately in a place of tardiness with no room for adjustment. Take it from Ko’ture through her life’s combat in her untold story……

    Chapter One

    Senior year

Good morning, Mr. Standtall. How are you today? I yelled as I ran to homeroom to check in.

When the bell rang, we needed to be in our homerooms, so we could check in for the school day and be accounted for. This was usually a thirty minute process. Then, the school day officially began.

    Hey, Mike! I said.

    What’s up? Mike said.

Nothing much. What’s up with you? I answered.

Tif, come here, I said, turning to her.

What’s up? What it be like? she asked.

Have you seen my purple star folder? I asked her.

    Nope.

    Alright. Thanks.

Tiffany was my locker partner. She always used my stuff and never asked. Whenever something was missing, she was the number one suspect. As I grabbed my book bag and closed my locker, I said, Come on, Marcy. You know we can’t be late for Mrs. Lockette’s class.

Ugh! I know. I can’t stand her, so how was your weekend? Marcy asked as she walked beside me.

It was okay. My mom and dad took me car shopping. I seen some nice whips, but I don’t know which one I want to get. It’s gonna be either this pretty pearl blue Benz or this nice mint green Jag. Although, it’s really up to my parents on how much they want to spend. I just may end up with a bucket!

Girl, you know your mom and dad got money! I don’t know why you even trippin', Marcy said.

    The first hour bell sounded.

    *****

Class, did everyone complete their homework assignments over the weekend?

    Marcy raised her hand.

    Yes, Marcy?

Mrs. Lockette, can I bring mines tomorrow? I forgot it!

As Marcy talked, I received a text message from Tiffany. It read: I forgot to ask u if u seen the pictures for the basketball team?

My text back read: No, where is the list?

The next text read: By the gym

My next text read: Ok. I’ll check it out at lunch.

    The final text read: k

I went back to taking notes and paying close attention to the math problems that were being solved on the board.

Ring! We had about fifteen minutes between classes for travel and bathroom privileges.

After packing my papers and closing my math book, I quickly ran off to change classes. English, social studies, and home economics were my classes. Home economics was my last class before lunch. I liked this class because we cooked, sewed, and learned about sex education. Then, we had gym before we went home. That day, in class, we made desserts and pastries for the bake sale we were having the following day.

Mmm… that smells good, Scott said, peeking his head in our classroom as he walked by.

    *****

My stomach growled constantly. I was so hungry. I thought about the cheesy slice of pizza and nice cold pop I was going to have for lunch.

As I stood in line waiting for the cook to bring more pizza, Marcy came up.

What you eating for lunch? she asked.

Um. Probably some pizza. How about you?

    A hamburger and some fries.

Oh, that sounds good, too. While you waitin’, let me show you who’s on the list.

    She grabbed my arm snuggly.

    Okay.

I laid my tray down on the tray line to hold my spot. I looked back to the person behind
